I think service replacement carb stamped with last numbers later, if such a thing is possible.

Cool

I'm going to poke the bear here. I just pulled a carb. off the shelf that I have that was on my 69 H/O it was a service replacement #7029253. I looked at the stamp on mine and you can see an out line of the whole stamp meaning there are very faint vertical lines on either side of the numbers. I may be wrong but what I think is back in the day, they only changed the last three numbers in the set to give them what ever carb. designation they needed. So the last three numbers may look a bit different depending on the machine doing the stamping. I have no problem with some one telling me I'm stupid and don't know what I'm talking about.

the 114th day of 69 wouldn't be a service replacement. I've seen similar stamping and I don't think it's a restamp

I agree I don’t believe it to be a restamp. I have a known restamp on my car. On the pad where the number is stamped you can see it has been machined. None of the original casting detail is present it’s a smooth flat surface. It has to be that way to remove the old number. On this carb you can still see the casting detail behind the stamp. It could have been a blank body that was never stamped before, but if that were true I think they would have done a better job of making all of the numbers match. To me it does look like the last three digits were stamped separately but I have seem similar stamps on supposedly real carbs. Another thing to check would be the casting on the main body. You can see it in picture 3 of the auction. It is the number just to the right of center in a circle formation. I can’t make it all out but it looks like it starts with 7037.... That may help you determine if that is oven the correct body For that application. On my carb that doesn’t match what it should be.

Looks correct to me at first glance on the computer I am on. I will try to look at it better on my home computer.

I'm not an expert by any means. But if its not a service replacement carb shouldn't it have a two letter code stamped in it?

Why does the stamping begin with 0. Ive seen carbs missinf the first 2 digits, but not having an extra digit at the beginning, unless it was a 75 and up carb

Not sure I know what the first 0 is for but I believe it is not a restamp. Here is another carb that I know for a fact is a real carb and the number font looks correct and same format.

My Carb. is the real deal also instead of having an "o" or zero mine has 2329. Could the first letter or number designate shift or plant? I don't know but I agree, that Carb. on Ebay is not a restamp. It's a good thing to ask just to get other opinions and this is the best place to go

I'm trying to figure out how your 7029253 could have a build date of February 1st of 68?

It is a 68 carburetor, not a 69

Edit, I am not sure. It has been a long time since I sold it. I know it was a real carburetor.

Weird because even a 7028253 didn't come out until April or May of 68. I've only heard and seen pics of two of them.

I had a 7029253 with a date of 0935 (see thread below). I wonder if yours was a 1978 dated service replacement carb

The format and casting marks are to consistent to be made 10 years later I believe
