RE: Olds red engine paint.

Hi all,

I just finished assembling my .30 over 455 that I bought from SKLBNDT! I will be dumping this engine in my 68 Cutlass soon.

My question is, engine paint for the 68 455 was red. I can't find oldsmobile red engine paint anywhere. I am told that Ford red is very close to the correct color which I can find from many manufacturers, including POR-15, which I prefer. I would like your opinions on both the color issue and POR-15 if you have used it. It's great rust inhibiting paint that I have used in many applications before. They make engine enamel that I would like to try. If it works as good as their other products, I'll be happy. Anyone?

I wouldn't use any other engine paint besides POR 15. IF you do it will eventually burn off. POR 15 is EXCELLENT! I used their Chrysler Blue on my engine and I am very happy with it.
