Rallye 350 Fraud?

Has anyone else received these emails from this guy?

Excuse me for getting back to you that late!

I hope that you are still interested in my 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Right now I am on a business trip. The car is back home. Still, shipping is already paid for, because my buyer changed his mind after I have made the arrangements to ship the car. The trucking company would not refund me but can ship it to anywhere within continental US, so I've left it at their warehouse and it's ready to ship at anytime.

I legally own a clear title, free of any liens or loans, under my name. Not interested in a trade and my final price is $9,300.00.

I am only interested in doing the selling thru eBay as I feel better about it this way. eBay guarantees that the car is exactly as I described, no crashes, flaws, dents or other mechanically issues whatsoever; you'll have 3 days to inspect it at your home and if you decide not to keep it you will get refunded in no time and they will charge me with the return costs.

As I said I'm only interested if we can get this done ASAP over the internet, without any headaches, so if you're serious about this whole thing, I will just need your eBay username to make you a second chance offer.

I have attached one picture to this email, more pictures will be included with the offer.

It's from Reid Murgatroyd
Thank you!

I think you should pay the $9300 so we can all have a good laugh, and can't believe you fell for a scam.

I think there was a martian character on the Bugs & Tweety show and he would say "heavens to Mergatroyd..." They are getting better. On some of the earlier scams you could tell they did not have a good grasp on the english language or good grammar...

I followed sicky's instructions. We'll see if he gets back to me. I told him that car at that price was too good to get away and I needed to inspect it before the sale. I said, "You know how these scammers are!" Why would he want my ebay username. It's out there for all to see.

59, did I fall for a scam? I sent this guy scathing emails in response. I wouldn't laugh at your expense.

You will never hear from him again I bet. I did something similar to a guy that claimed to have an NOS W-27 and he almost instantly deleted the post and never seen it pop up again.

Same scam only with a 66-67 maroon 442 a couple of years ago. Same wording. I played the game with the AHoles right up until the time of money exchange. By then we had enough info with Email trails that the Feds took over. Looks like their at it again. Apparently they didn't get spanked hard enough or the Feds didn't find their stupid low life azzes
Google on how to report it at the FCC level. Your email provider will also have info. I did both with a great IP # trail. If we all do this eventually they will move on to the next scam until they meet their maker and find out they are going down where its very warm!

That was Snagglepuss who made that comment. One of Yogi and Boo Boo's cartoon buddies.

Not quite. Boo Boo was a bit more sophisticated and his mom didn't have 4 months of dirt accumulating in her neck folds.

Update;

I sent him this and he sent me an email back.

It's back home in Astoria, OR, unfortunately it's already crated at the haulers and they don't allow inspections, it's not their core business. They just deliver.

On 7/18/2013 at 5:26 PM zzz281996@yahoo.com wrote:

Hey, I changed my mind. Where is the car located? I would like to inspect it before purchase of course. A Rallye for this price I can't let get away!!

Then he sends me this;

I have started a second chance offer for you through eBay, you should have received an email notification about this. All the pics I have are there. You will have to make the payment to an eBay account and they will keep the money until you inspect the car at your own place. Once you let them know everything's fine, they will release the money to me.

I'll be able to ship the car as soon as I receive the payment confirmation from eBay.

Thanks
I sent him this reply.

I can't let this one get away! But I have to at least get a better look at it. Could you send me some more detailed pics. The glovebox molding is very peculiar on these cars as is the dome lights. Could I possibly get some pics of them? If they are the correct documented pieces I could definitely see me taking the next step here. Thanks for your help. Your pal, Slim
If I can't inspect the car I'm going to have to let it go. I have cash money waiting for your reply. I really need to see the car. Is it crated? I have never heard of crating a car when shipping. Sincerely, Slim
We'll see what he comes back with. lol.

What a waste of time on your part. Either your retired or have absolutely nothing to do. Spend that energy on a car your looking for that is for sale that is not a scam!

I am just amazed that these people keep trying these type scams. Is there REALLY any one out there that is dumb enough to fall for this? I disagree with the waiste of time statement above. Toying with an idiot is very entertaining. When the idiot responds that yes the car is in a crate you should respond that you have a check in an envelope!

I did. I got this back from him.

Yes it is, in order to be protected. It's a show car. You'll be able to inspect it before eBay releases the money to me, and if you don't approve this, I would be forced to pay for the return shipping. Figure out I know what I'm selling and I don't event want to imagine this scenario. I'm sure you'll like it, it's perfect.

I sent this back;

I need to inspect it before it ships. I have cash in hand and if I can inspect it we can do the deal. I want this car. This is a great price too. Tell me the address and I'll get someone up there to inspect it. Slim.

59, you could say that about someone posting on an internet board as well. Thanks for the criticism. Blow me.

Maybe we could reverse spam him. if each of us emailed him and got 10 friends and the got 10 friends to respond we could overwhelm his account!

More games.

I'm afraid that's not possible. It's not my company and they stated they do not allow unauthorized personel in their warehouse. Sorry.

So I came back with;

I need pics of that glovebox trim and the dome lights. Especially the one in the trunk. This is to verify it is a true Rallye 350. I would gladly pay 1000 more if it's the real thing. I need more pics. One more thing. Could you inspect the back of the clutch pedal for the metric spacing bar? If it's not there, it isn't a true Rallye. I also need the Olds certificate signed by Doc Watson and Linda Vaughn (who as you know are the same person). You know the one I mean. If you can provide me with these documents I'd really appreciate it. Slimmy

I find this stuff to be very amusing. A form of entertainment.

Dude thats the funniest sheet Ive heard all week! LMAO! I walked in on the old lady watching "IT" last night. Man they will put anything on the air. I though it was just all an act until I actuality watched about 10 minutes of it. Once I felt the vomit start to rise I had to turn my head and then I quickly (ran) went back out to the garage! Zoo animals are several steps above these.... aahh.... people???

I've played these games with these scammers up here as well. Lots of fun. Keep him going as long as you can, usually by now they have moved on.
