Radiator hoses markings – Dual Stripe?

… looking through the service manual there is an image of an engine, with an radiator hose that has a dual stripes the entire length of the hose (see page section 6B-4 70 service book V8 engine section). I assume this book and image was complete before the start of the 1970 production , maybe it is 69, or an early pre build 70 image... Either way. I have not seen a repo rad hoses that have the dual stripes. What/which type of marking is are correct for 70.. Code marking on top of the hose, or is this dual stripe correct?

You got me wondering so I went and looked at all the CSMs from 68-72. The 70 manual is the ONLY one that shows that double stripe on the upper rad hose. I've never seen it before but it's obviously there.

I recently ordered new rad hoses from Fusick and they were improperly stamped. I know that because I had some OEM ones on my car with the right markings. I snapped a pic of them and sent it to Dave Jackson. He sent the pic to the 'stamping' dept and they forwarded me a new hose with the proper markings.

BTW, that image you are referring to appears to be a 'stock' image in the other CSM's too. No idea where the double stripe came from. I doubt you'll find it reproduced anywhere.

Best price I've seen on upper/lower rad hoses is Parts Place 24.00. They claim the hoses have GM markings but IDK what kind.

Sorry, that's the best I can do for you.

It can be reproduced, here is a single stripe.

There is currently a 70 w30 on eb that has a hose with the double stripe . It looks similar to the hose in the service manual. Maybe these rad hoses had the double stripe from the factory or from Lansing plant only or …who knows... Like a few other items out there, it is hard to verify unless there are old factory images of engine bays in 69/70 that can clearly confirm…the service book is interesting still . I think If I had to choose I would go with a double striped hose as being correct

Nice W30. Looks like a very correct (according to CSM) hose. Question is where do you get them? I've found that many of the repop stampings are way out to lunch compared to OEM. I'd almost bet that hose was a generic Gates pre-formed and stamped/striped by the restorer.

Page 38 of the 70 Cutlass owners’ manual shows a hose with a few more markings and what looks like only one stripe, hard to tell. I assume the image is of a 69 (radiator cover is not a 70, in addition to few other items). …interesting details from period images…Need more images from the assembly line / factory in 69/70…
