Rad running at 210-230 F in the heat.
Rad running at 210-230 F in the heat. Opened the thermostat and found 190F and replaced it with a 160 F made in Niagra Falls and designed in Israel of all places. The motor runs 10 to 15 degrees cooler... but still on the hot side in WARM weather,

Ok this may sound bad, but it's said with sincerity. The thermostat can be installed backwards and cause an overheating condition due to restriction of coolant flow. There is a "motor' side and 'rad' side. Did you check the old T stat to see if it was installed right?
When I took my old intake off, I looked at the t stat that a shop had installed. It was in backwards. That explained a lot about why the engine was always running so hot. It was a 195° t stat. I still run that temp setting in my car now and no issues with overheat.
If it's not the t stat, check your timing and TCS operation. The TCS is supposed to advance your timing to avoid the overheating when sitting in traffic or idling. I believe 455's were noted for running hot back in 71.
