I don't thing I have seen a R71S topper. I have only seen the R59 topper. I hope I am good for a while now...time will tell. Steve
I search ebay for everything. I thought if anyone was selling the batteries it would be there. Didn't know someone made something you could fake it. There was a R71S yesterday. I guess someone bought it.
Just to let everyone know, the R71S battery I bought earlier in this thread has offically died , despite being on a trickle charger after every outing.
As I noted earlier this battery is much lighter then the first repro R71S which lasted 15 years maintaining it exactly the same way..

Fred,
In post 13 you noted that Battery Central Mall "found" (my word) a Restoration Battery and sent it to you.
This battery may have been made a few years before your purchase. When batteries are stored at partial charge, it cuts their life. That may be the explanation for short life you found.
I had a similar experience. I ordered an Odyssey pure-lead AGM for my Challenger from a distributor in Compton CA. It lasted less than a year, at which time I noticed the manufacture date was 3 years prior (therefore, it was about 2 years old when I got it).
Odyssey in San Diego gave me a freshly-made battery at no charge, which I still have six years later.

I had a similar experience, although mine is an AGM . It lasted about 18 months.
