As one of the biggest offenders here, I have to say that I do think it's important to use proper terminology. Language is the use of common terms to convey an idea. Unfortunately, we seem to be getting further and further from that today. As for specific Oldsmobile marketing terminology, at a minimum, it is educational to understand what is "correct" and what is "incorrect". Admittedly, even Oldsmobile used various terms for the same item at different times, but if you ask for an Oldsmobile "Rally" wheel, I may THINK I know what you mean, but I can't be sure. If you ask for a SuperStock II wheel, I know exactly what you mean.
Yes, I can also be one of the more arrogant @$$holes about stuff like this, and yes, there is an educational way to inform people and an arrogant one. I don't believe the intent above was anything other than humorous, however.

Fellas, good thread. Informative and humorous, I think so anyway.
The one rule of thumb I had always followed and now know better are on wheels. The SS-1 wheels were either all chrome or with the painted spokes, no doubt. SS-2's I always thought were the bolt on caps, whether 14's or 15's, 6 or 7 wide. And the SS-3's were the snap on units. I thought this for years...
