Question on a windsheild seal
First hi guys and or gals. I have a 66 Delta 88 and the windsheild has sprung a slite leak. Has anyone out there ever replace the weather seal on the windsheild and if so wares are the best resources. Also the glass is perfect.

I am guessing that your windshield is set in urethane like the one on my 65 was. It's a job for professional glass shop to repair. You have to cut the old glass out clean it and there is a very good possibility that there will be some rust that has to be dealt with in the bottom of the channel. I had mine done at a local glass shop and it was pricey but it worked.

Yes as already said there may be some rust or even rot thu there but you wont know unless you pull the glass. It is not so hard as special wire us used to cut around the glass from both sides with a sawing action. Never pry on the glass but push it out with your hands and a helper. The new seal is a roll of sticky black tar like stuff that you roll out and there are rubber blocks to get the glass in the right position. i would go with 5/16 seal rather than 1/4 or 3/8. Dont be surprised if your leak is due to a hole rather than bad seal.

They didn't use urethane back then. It was a butyl rubber type product; 3M still offers it in several thicknesses as a ribbon "Kit", I used 051135 08610 3M Windo-Weld 1/4" x 15' for my 66 A body with new clips available from the professional paint shop where I got the kit. If your is leaking, the sealer is almost certainly dried up and nothing much is holding the windshield, only the chrome trim. The paint shop will also have what you need to remove the windshield, a piece of piano wire with two handles.
