I sure hope someone saves the three wing parts. Those are not easy to find. The 900 mile one in Florida had a bad one on it.

Another one bites the dust.

It is in pretty good shape, if it were restored it would never be a tire smokin' machine but it would be a peppy little car,

Most wrecking yards won't sell a complete car because:

1) they don't want the hassle of dealing with titles

2) they usually don't have a dealership licsence

3) they make way more money just selling parts

4) they don't want the legal liability

With over 300,000 miles I wonder if it is the original engine...

I know... I just can't justify it right now. I have passed the info along to a guy that will likely save them.

I wonder how I would find this car? I want to contact them. It may be long gone with it likely being a several month delay for them to be put in an article like this...

Print magazines typically have a three month delay from writing to delivery. I have no idea what the lead time is for a blog, but one assumes much shorter lag. All we know from the article is that it is in Calif. The setup looks like one of the Pick-Your-Part yards, but there are many of those throughout the state. Besides, cars in those yards have about a two-three week lifetime before being crushed. I hate to say it, but chances are this car is on it's way to China by now.

It's at the Pick-n-Pull in Richmond, California. The bad news is that this yard is self-service only, so they won't pull or ship parts

If someone really can use the parts, it may be worth the effort to find a member in that area to check it out... I am sure the market is very limited for those wing parts, which could be a hard sell... On the flip side, find someone who really needs them, there could be money to be made...

Making money on these parts is not the goal for me. That trunk lid and wing need to be saved, I would like to get the information to the right guy that could use them. I can't justify buying them myself but these parts are more rare than most anything for a W-30.

You are right, it is not always about the money... That is why I am so over loaded with spare parts for vehicles that may never be highly collectible, W & E Bodies are a good example and more specific to part of my hoarding, but I just couldn't see them being scrapped... We do have to salvage what we can when we can... Again, as you said, it is not always about the money and I surely didn't mean to infer that it was...

I Understand that. I have parts that are impossible to find but worth nothing. I just can't justify tossing them out. I have often said to people that I am first into preserving Oldsmobiles and second into making money from Oldsmobiles to justify my time. I just hate seeing anything usable going to scrap but I just can't store it all, lol. I am wanting to build a pole barn to store more stuff but I don't make enough from Oldsmobiles to justify it.

I need the spoiler for my car. I have done just about everything I know to get them. I placed an ad on Row 52 for a parts puller to get them for me, placed a Craigslist ad, posted here and on other sites to see if anyone that lives near the yard can get the parts for me, and even went as far as asking my vendors (AutoZone, Advance, and O'reilly's) if they could find out if someone from their companies could go get them for me. No go. As much as it pains me, I have just about given up :-(

I also need the steering wheel and would be interested in the shifter, shifter cables, top center console trim, clutch/brake/gas pedal assemblies, headlight switch, wiper switch, the data computer in the console, the camshafts (if they are any good), the dash speaker grilles, and the list goes on and on...

Hate to see any car end up in a yard, as you wish you could save them all!

Had to have been 300,000+ miles of fun! Definitely wish I could read the story that this car had!
