The Prettiest One does it again!!!!!
Spent a lovely hot and sunny day in Newton Falls yesterday! Got sunburned, my sister Linda won the 50/50 raffle for $150.00, and The Prettiest One got herself another trophy!! Ok... so it was 2nd place but I'm still proud and happy!!! She had quite a bit of competition in the "Original" class. There were quite a few Olds' there. Lots of cars.... long day. Started parking at 10 am and trophy's didn't start until 7 pm. 32 classes.
She got sooooo many compliments! The judges spent about 25 minutes looking at her - I was getting nervous! They got down on one knee and looked down her sides from the back and the front? I never had that happen before. Some of the cars in the "original" class that I looked at, were not original. Lots of chrome under the hood, no "correct" tower clamps, etc..... The 69 H/O didn't get anything - sorry Jamesbo! It was not beautiful like yours - from what little I've seen of your car.
The coupe parked next to me got an award for paint. It was a beautiful color. Can't really tell by the picture.
The Prettiest One needs cleaned now.... by the end of the show she was all dusty. Then we ran in to a couple light rain showers on the way home and there are bug bodies on the front end.... yuck! It was 93 degrees here today and the humidity was higher than heck. I was just too tired to go out and clean her. That will be this weeks project. I did put the black Oldsmobile mat in the trunk - looks very nice!
Anyhow.... here are some pics!

This black one was at the BOP show. The owner and his wife talked to me awhile yesterday. Nice people! There was another guy here that was at the BOP show also, that came over and talked to me.

Cool.
I had some stuff to do Saturday or you would have been third.
Newton Falls?? You'll go anywhere won't you Sandy??
The judges spent 25 minutes looking at your car and you still won a trophy??
Were the judging forms in braille??

I don't know if the forms were in braille or not, lol!! I really don't care as long as she wins! I would have been just as happy with 3rd place! You ever been to that show? I like Newton Falls. It's a nice, pretty town. We grew up about 6 miles from there. I took dance lessons over there when I was in 5th grade, lol! Newton Falls was the BIG city back then. Jean lives about 10 minutes from there. Mom is buried over there, and I will be too eventually. Beautiful cemetery on one of the back roads. Growing up, if we got to make a trip to Ravenna, it was like going to New York City or something to us, lol!!
I went to the show last year - it was the first car "show" I took her to, and of course didn't win anything, but the Red drop top won in it's class, and there was a beautiful blue 72 hardtop with trophy's and plaques sitting all under the hood - and he took first place. He even had one from the Ox Roast! Well deserved! An 85 98 took best of show last year. God it was gorgeous!! After seeing those cars last year, (and that was before I got on this forum and learned so much from all of you guys), I said that was going to be my goal.... to take home a trophy from Newton Falls this year. And I did!
Couldn't have done it without your help, so again I thank you sooooo much for helping me achieve that goal! You are the man!!! Still a shi* too, though!
Here are some pics of my 2 favorite ones from last year - I've spent hours studying them, wishing mine looked as good, and now she does!!

I used to go to Newton Falls as a kid to visit my mom's cousin "Old Bob", looked like Gabby Hayes and had the same attitude. She also had some distant relatives named Hatfield that lived all over the place there.
I went over to the west side last night between storms and got a nice remote outside mirror that was on Craigslist. Massive trees down across the roads, thunder and lightning, power out. It was perilous but nothing was going to stop me, Laura was driving anyway.
The guy had three 442's and a Vista Cruiser, garage full of Olds parts. Had a few OAI hoods but they were his or sent to him for repairs, he said he used to sell them for 300 bucks and felt bad.
When's the next secret car show? But then again if you told me you would have to kill me. It's still hard not to notice how you never reveal your plans ahead of time so I don't show up.
The Dick Miller Olds Nationals deal coming up at Norwalk has a car show?... you could drag race too?
Go there, I'll be at a show over here, may take both cars.
It's hard to take both , I have to go drive one a little up the road then stop and park it then run back and get the other car then go a little up ahead of the first and over...and over...and over... until I get there.
I have to go talk to the Vista and ask her if she'd like a remote mirror.
She has a new hood pad, plug wires and radiator cap, just like The Greediest One.

You just make me laugh!! I never know what I'm doing - I'm sure you got a flyer thrown in your car for this show same as I did, lol!! I was planning on going to the Cuyahoga Falls High school show on Saturday, but changed my mind. I wish you would have been there. It woulda been fun!
I remember a Mrs. Hatfield who was a teacher at Palmyra, that lived in Newton Falls. She was one of Linda's teachers! Probably related somehow, lol!
Jamesbo..... No, the owner of the H/O wasn't around when I walked by. I would have asked him lots of questions and told him about your cars!

Sandy keep in mind that now matter how fantastic the car is, points are gained or lost based on the owner's attitude, personality, poise and grace.
In other words, if the car is a 10 but the owner is a jerk, the car loses points.
You in turn EARN points over and above TPO
well done my dear!

Jeffrey, who looses more points, jerks or a-holes ......just askin' 'cause I've got poise and grace down.
Sandy congrats again.

hahaha a-holes do but jerks are a close 2nd - and keep in mind that a tired car gets extra points for a super-nice owner - that's the way I judge anyway

The Neverending Story??
Is that the movie Columbo narrates about the adventures of a young flying monkey that rides on the back of a giant flying pterodactyl to strange and wonderful faraway lands?
