The Prettiest one

Well I finally got my call back from Don Sitts and I'm taking the prettiest one to the Riverfront tonight and dropping her off with him, and they will be putting on my new parts this week!! What a nice way to start off what's going to be a tough week! I am excited!!

So hopefully I'll get a trophy in the near future.... next weekend would work for me!

I have a new stone shield that needs painted and put on, a front bumper, grilles, wheel well moldings. I'm also going to have them detail under the hood. Not that she looks bad now, but her front bumper is dented, which in turn cracked the stone shield and grilles. I may have them buff her out too.

Oh boy, here we go!
Did you figure out how to post pics without your daughter's help? Your Intrigue would trophy at the BOP or Carnation Mall show easily, no kidding.

Don Sitts knows the cars and it should be cool, never heard anything bad about him which is good, now he has to pick your car for a trophy where he sponsors cruises. Are they going to wet sand then buff it? There is a little orange peel in the clearcoat that would come out nicely with ultra fine grit like 2000 and make it really shiny and smoooooth.

I'm actually getting the Vista Cruiser ready to go into the body shop for paint after three years of waiting, I can't believe it.
Next year should be fun if we're in the same class at shows.
If you want to know what you're in for I'm eating dinner off the underbody and engine tonight.

Well it's funny how little things like the minor damage to your car can make the difference in winning a trophy or not. i think once you get your "pretty girl' back there will be nothing to hold her back from picking up some hardware this year. Not that it is important but I think well deserved. last year I only drove mine to a couple shows and doubt that i will enter it but I like looking at other peoples cars.

One nice feature of this site is the ignore (a member) list, It's in the user control panel, no big loss for sure if you use it.

As a member of this site I'm really sorry about that Sandy. That post was not the norm here and just plain old mean, especially after seeing how excited you are about your car and the thought of winning your first trophy someday. A negative attention seeker I guess, they're always trying to stir the pot, I almost feel sorry for people like that.

Enough said.

Winning a trophy is great and a real accomplishment no matter how big or small the trophy or show is, and don't let anybody tell you different.

When is the car going to be finished?
I can't wait.

trophies

I for one don't really want to enter car shows right now partly because i do not consider my car worthy of being shown. My father though did enter a lot of shows with his 1929 model A leatherback and if you look at the photo you will see some of his trophies and plaques. This is a 3 car garage and the trophies and plaques continue across the garage.I think that car shows are great to go to and see some of the cars that are around here , and it gives the owners somewhere to gather and not only show what their hard work has gone into but hook up with others who have the same passion as them. A lot of the people I have met at the shows talking to them about their cars are some of the nicest people you could meet anywhere. It's one part of our society that should be promoted and winning trophies is not the important thing but the meeting and mingling.

What ever cranks your tractor

I'm all for people doing what they want. Car Shows, Drag Racing, polishing the heck out of it in the drive way.

Go for it what ever it is.

When I first bought my car it was rough but ran like a top ...

I showed it in that condition and people loved it.

Mikes442-C0002.jpg

I even drove up to Canada to my Bro's where I stripped it and repaired what I could...

It still needs a lot. When the Barris show came up, I showed it and won a Trophy...

Well, since I've been going to these car shows I have met some of the nicest people! Guys that don't have to give me the time of day have taken time to talk to me, give me advice, answer questions, etc... I've only met one that I would put in the rude catagory. I really enjoy going and sitting in my lawn chair and watching the sun bake my car! I happen to be a sun bum too! My plan is to live in Phoenix one day - can't get much sunnier than that! The sun is also good for sour dispositions - it really makes you feel better!

Getting a trophy is not the most important reason I go to the shows. I love showing off my car! It makes people happy. It makes my heart really happy when people look at her and appreciate the beauty. I hear so many stories that start with "hey, I had one of these" and they tell me about it. It does good for people to remember a happy time in their life. I love people! Do I want a trophy? Yes I do. Really bad. Because she is worthy of one, and to prove to myself and all that laugh at me and think I'm wasting my time, that I did it. By myself. I put a lot of hard work in to my cars. All by hand. And I really enjoy it.

I love car shows! They make me happy Every car at these shows mean something to their owners, and they are as proud of them as I am of mine. They are each truly beautiful in their own way. I don't know all the technical aspects of cars and shows, but I know it's a great way to meet people and make new friends and just have a good time! Life is too short to not enjoy doing things that make you happy, if you have the opportunity!!

You enjoy them for the right reasons I love going to them to see the cars and talking to the owners. Trophies are secondary but I am sure you will get one soon so don't worry about it too much. When do you get your car back , do you know yet?

Car shows are great and I love to show my car off. However I have never had it judged just because it's a driver and I doubt it would win a trophy. For me it's all about the people you meet and talk to.

Car shows in Ohio...

I lived in Ohio for 28 years before moving here to South Carolina, And I can honestly say they had some really awesome car shows there around Cleveland area. I lived in the burbs of Akron. I had attended many shows around Akron and Cleveland and always had great interaction with like minded people. I'll never forget 1 car that realy set off my love for Olds convertibles. It was a black 71 442 W-30 convertible, that thing was absolutely breathtaking. Ever since that day I knew I had to have at least one. I have 2 now and will always love the cars and car shows. They are not near as large as what we had there in Ohio, but I have yet to get a hunk of rust in my eye working under my car now Oldsdroptop

I got my car finished about three months ago. I have put it in a few shows out here but never win. I guess my 4500 dollar paint job just ain't gonna stack up against a $15,000 two stage job, but then again I don't have that kind of money. I get a lot of comments about the car being a beutiful car and not "overdone", and that's nice to hear. Does it bother me to not get a trophy, I would be a liar (oops, will I be censored for using the word "liar") if I said it didn't, but then I get in my car and drive it home while most of the trophy winners are loading their cars back onto the trailer.

True story

I actually used to know a Delta pilot who had a set of wheels he used to take his show car on and off the trailer and another set he would put on when the car was unloaded for shows.

He had polyurethaned his garage floor and washed his cars [even daily driver] before they went into the garage.

One day I drove by his home and he was outside WAXING his A/C unit.

I have no idea what became of him, but I would guess they took him away in a straight jacket.

I have never won a trophy at a car show and don't expect to. My 57 is a driver and my 48 will be as well rain or shine. I keep them in the garage and carport and do take care of them but would rather drive then win. The shows can be fun mostly because of the other owners talking cars and car stories, but I would rather go on runs. Still see great cars but the driving is where its at for me. "MPG" more miles per grin"
