Powder coating

Powder coating
I have the powder coating bug! I powder coated my frame first, and things just got crazy after that.
I am now starting my engine build. I have cleaned most of the parts that will be powder coated, and will remove any existing paint.
I know all of the brackets will be fine to coat, and some of the other under hood parts, but what about the pulley's? Can the pulley's be powder coated? how would you coat just the outside part of the pulley, and not coat the belt area? Has anyone else been through this?

Damn near anything and everything can be powdercoated.
I just got my front core support, hood hinges, and rad cover back from being blasted , torn apart and PC'd.
It's IMO the best way to keep a car lasting damn near forever if done right.
I'd powdercoat the entire body if I could.
If Auto manufacturers did this, the body's would outlive the drivetrains.
Eventually I'm going to pull the body off, blast and PC it and then run all new brake lines and body bushings.
I just don't know where I'm going to take it to get this part done just yet.......

I just had mine done, as an afterthought, I had the same question. If you don't want the grooves done, the coater can run a strip of silicone tape in them. The powder won't stick there, and it holds up to the temps used for it to flow out and cure. Aces, are you talking about doing the body, or the frame?

I just don't know how long the coating will hold up with the belt riding on it.

Even in the belt groove? If so, how long has it been in service/ or how many miles?
I drove it for about a year, 300 miles or so, and sold it. The belt never wore through the PC. I'm sure it will eventually wear through, like your factory one. I wouldn't worry about it though. It had no effect or slippage on the belts. I will be doing the same on my other car.

across them to clean up whatever corrosion built up if the car is driven routinely.
Unless the car sits for eon's, with alot of imperfections in the PC'ing it will be fine.
Inside the grooves is the least of your worries tho.....
Alot of these cars have 40-50 year old pulleys on them.
Just blast them and clean them and many are still like new.
So a powdercoat is just going to help them live even longer.
I personally need to do my frame(s)
But I was also stating that if Auto Manufacturers would PC their body panels and fenders the cars would last forever.

Ok guy's thank you for the advise. I have all my parts cleaned and stripped of any old paint. I will be taking everything ( pulleys too) to Cross link powder coating some time this week.
It is nice to be able to bounce things off other guys that have been through this before, thank you.
