poverty cap removal tool

I needed to remove my poverty caps from my restored XT wheels. Couldn't scratch the wheels or dent the caps. I went to sears and got lucky with the perfect tool. Thought I would share the tool. I don't work for Sears or have stock in the company. Here is the tool. I had always stuck a screwdriver in and pried off the cap with ugly results. Lee

I used a worn common screwdriver and heated the end to make an ell shaped hook to remove the caps on my GMC with 9.75 inch wide wheels...works great too...and no scratches!

Also works perfectly with full wheel covers. Even if one doesn't have a "worn" screwdriver wasting a cheapy to make the tool is worth the few cents one costs. One will inevitably find other usages for the homemade tool.

There is a tool that is purpose built for this task. It has a round rubber rest so that you do not scrape the paint on the wheel while prying under the edge of the poverty cap. I found a new one at a swap meet and it works great.

That pry bar is used for removing trim in finish carpentry. I think I actually have a poverty popper tool around here somewhere that I made from a girl's bike kickstand.

new name...LeeBar. Get your stickers made up and market it. Doubles as an aggressive ice scraper.

"Get Yours TODAY!"

Anyone recognize the name Tomima Edmark?? It can happen!

Heck....I've already figured out the script/scenes for the first late night TV ad for this thing

I'm thinking a late night cheesy commercial followed up by a full blown infomercial featuring some health nut. Regardless of the use as an automotive tool you always need to throw in a "health connection" or have one of those infomercial hosts that acts like they are on speed.

Maybe some other healthy looking chicks in the background on treadmills doing curls with LeeBars.

I've always loved the look of the 'dog dish' style hubcaps. Not trying to stray from the original topic, but does anyone know what size I would need to get for my Delta 88's 15" wheels?
