Potential Transmission filter distributor
I recently went to the Oldsmobile car club car in Mn and met someone who had their transmission rebuilt. The shop is in Elk River Mn. And he can handle all olds 1960-80. what interested me more was he has been in contact with individuals who are working to get the specs and machinery used to make the transmission filter.
I have been asking around for more info on this and it seems to be a legit and very possible.
Any more information I can get on the transmission repair shop and potential filters I will let evryone know.

The company who use to make the filters is no longer in buisness. I can't chance taking my pan off or try to change filter w/o a supplier. I have seen discussions on making one but knowing the issues with the tranny I am not going to play with it until I know I can easily cover issues and or parts.

Hope he's successful, it would be great to have a source for American made fliters. (Hopefully he is planning on making them here) The last filter I installed on a turbo 350 was made in Vietnam.

Navet: When you are told where you can purchase these filters in the past I see You continue to expect someone else to Manufacture filters from scratch and save you money but in the mean time you still aren't able to change your Tranny Fluid without One. Good luck, but you probably need to get your Tranny service soon!!

Its not a matter of saving money. My tranny is running fine. The fluid has been changed over the years (3 to be exact) due to other repairs; radiator, tansmission line etc. The fluid prior to me changing it was fine. I have changed the tranny filter on myOlds silloette three times and it has 290K and I have changed filters on my Nissan Altima and it has 350K.
If I find one that is correct for my car I will change it. And I am not going to put a home made "almost fits" filter on the car just for the sake of saying I changed the filter.
Right now if it ain't broke I ain't touching it.
