Does anybody have any idea how i can send some engine enamel from the USA to Australia. You cant send it with the normal postal service as it is classified a hazardous material.
Unfortunately i cant get the correct color here in Australia for a 69 442 (Bronze). The people who make POR15 only do the OLDS gold color.
Thank you for any info you can give.
Cheers

Get someone from the US to buy it and have them send it to you? Are you looking for aerosol or pint can? I'm surprised they won't ship intl to you. There are exemptions from the DGR regulations that will allow them to ship if they fill out the proper paperwork. It's part of the 'mixed shipping' manifest.
Still trying to maybe get some through FEDEX. I was also thinking that maybe, just maybe i could mix some POR15 OLD gold paint which i have here with some other color to give me the correct bronze for my engine. Any idea which color combinations i will need to go from gold to bronze? OH yeh I'm looking for either aerosol or straight
What do restoration shops 'down under' use to restore engines? There must be someone down there (no pun intended) who can steer you to the paint in your local market?
We do have a wide variety of engine enamel paints here. The ones they carry are for the more popular cars like Chevys. But unfortunately Oldsmobile wasn't a car that was popular in OZ. I can get the OLDS gold from the POR 15 people which would suit if I had a 70 and up model. The Bronze is just not available in any way here. I'm trying very hard to keep everything as it should be. If i start changing colours on the engine it’s going to look dikky.
Do you have someone local who has an automotive paint mixing station?
There is a 1980 Mazda color which I'm told is virtually identical to the correct 400 bronze engine color. The Mazda paint code is Y9 (Radiant Copper Poly) and it's PPG formula # is 24890.
While this color may look too dark, I have been assured it is VERY close to the original Olds engine color.

I have no idea. My goal was to try and help him out because no one seems to stock what he wants. I'm wondering if VHT has any bronze colors in their inventory....
I'm back, just did a web search and found this at Canadian Tire: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en I don't know if it's bronze or not though. There's a CT about 5 minutes from my house. Do you want me to check it for you? I'll find out from the post office what, or if they have any restrictions on sending aerosols through the mail too.
ralsy shoot me a PM reminder so I don't lose track of you. Sometimes I process 70-80 emails a day.
