The image is great. I like that the phone number is only seven characters, the first two of which are letters, not numbers; no area code. Finally, no zip code.

 

I don't have a zone or dealer code but my 74 Hurst Olds W-30 came from Joe Jacobs. I dug up this information years ago, even contacted a few folks. Time just won here, people are gone. I did find some pictures on the internet but they are not stored on my phone at the moment.

My 442 was originally sold by:

The dealer still exists, and still sells Chevrolet and Cadillac. The saleswoman's business card is still in the slot in my owner's manual cover. As it turns out, the owner of Buzz Chew (a man named Buzz Chew) lives across the street from my in-laws, and they've purchased their vehicles exclusively from him for decades. The first time I brought the 442 over to their house and parked in front of the house, Buzzy did a second slow drive-by when he noticed his dealer tag on the trunk (it has since been removed).

The Olds dealers in my town were Volinski Olds (sold my '84 Delta), but shuttered back in the 1980s. Site is now a parking lot.

Next hamlet over had Wells Pontiac Cadillac Olds. The building remains, but is now a brewery. The building is mostly unchanged, but instead of having cards in the windows, has massive fermentation vats. Still a great place to window shop.

Steel City Oldsmobile Birmingham,Alabama was a very nice hi performance dealer. I think 2 of the 68 Hurst Olds were sold there and I know of many 442's including my old 66 442 3X2 car. I bought a 67 W-30 from the original owner who bought it there.

Still in business as a Cadillac dealer. They and Jim Hudson Chevrolet in Cola. hosted NC/SC GM car clubs' shows several times in the 1990s. They treated us well! especially when a couple of Oldsmobiles and Cadillacs wearing "by Moore" dealer badges showed up!

These old-line dealers knew the value of supporting their communities. Corporate-owned conglomerates could not care less.

 

Still in business at 4949 Va Beach Blvd as Phillips Automotive. Phillips also has a Benz dealership.

Dave That's where my car came from also... According to my Build sheet Sam White Olds ordered the car and traded it to Burke-Betts. Have you found any other info?

 

My great uncle lived near here and whenever we would visit, we would stop in to see the latest cars. I was 8 years old in 71, so I probably saw something close to this!.

Started up in 1938, switched name and location in early 2000's to Columbia Chevrolet.

 

Arhens Olds would be a dealer code 30-0xx.
30 was the Milwaukee Zone Ofc dealer area
the name Arhens would establish the last 3 digits & I would estimate that it is under 050

 

I wish to amend my comments for proper spelling of otto72's original selling dealer for their car

Proper spelling dealer's name is Ahrens Oldsmobile Cadillac and dealer appears to have operated thru the 2004 Oldsmobile shut down.
They may have continued after 2004 with the Cadillac franchise.

I see in a previous post that someone has listed a Black Cadillac Oldsmobile in Greensboro, NC with dealer # 16-077! Wonder if it may be the same family?

 

I was in the Oldsmobile Field Ofc in Charlotte NC in 1986-89 . Dont believe Odom had Olds franchise in that timeframe
I do not believe William Black Olds Cad Greensboro NC had the dealership in SC.

 

Thanks Larry, Odom would have had the dealership in Walterboro in very late 60s or possibly 1970s. I think he was general manager for Johnny Black when I bought my W30 car in 1967.

9 was Cincinnati zone. I dont have 231 in my data base. That zone was all of Kentucky and lower half of Ohio.

In operation until the late '70s maybe. If any one can confirm this it would be great.

Nice, the list that's online needs to be updated and posted. I try to find people that post docs with dealer codes on for sale ads and post them here. I asked to TK-65 to share the updated list many moons ago and heard crickets.
