I personally prefer manifold vacuum. I find most Olds V8 like very aggressive part throttle timing. Of course octane, compression, cam size and quench limit the amount you can add.

Thanks for the post, I’ve had my Q-Jet setup using manifold vacuum for years., Cliff does a good job of explaining the differences.
