PO Box?
PO Box?
I have been dealing with a guy, who advertised some 67 front parking lamp lenses. Nate Crownover, Blown394Olds is his email. We made a deal, but now he wants me to send the money to a P O Box. That kind of scares me. Any thoughts on this?

Its old school. PO boxes are how it we used to do it.
If it don't feel right, don't do it. Just move on.
I know things are different now. But not everybody has an electronic way of doing things.

I have had a PO box for over 25 years. It is the safest way for
a person to send you a check or MO. The big stuff still gets dropped
at the house with a street address and mailbox out front.
I have a set of lenses if this doesn't work out, if needed Steve.

All my mail gets delivered to a Post Box. Even on my drivers license, my address is a Post office box number, cause that is my mailing address. No physical address on it, can't have both, because my mailing address and physical address is 2 different towns. I have many parts delivered to a post office box with no problems. If it gets shipped thru FEDEX or UPS, then they get delivered to my mom's address.
I'll do you all one better:
I've got a PO box because I CAN'T have a street address.
The Post Office doesn't deliver mail in town, only on the RD routes, so if you live in the town itself, you have a PO box or you don't get mail.
The kicker is that according to postal regulations, all mail HAS to have the PO box number on it, or it is returned as Address Unknown. This is funny because we live NEXT DOOR to the post office, and can wave to them out the kitchen windows if we want to. They know us and we know them, but if a piece of mail has our name and street address, they've got to send it back, or they get reamed.
UPS and FedEx, of course, get delivered to the street address.
This can be a problem when ordering on line, as some sellers do not tell you which route they will use, and so I have to hedge by putting the box number on as though it is an apartment number, since the carriers' computers will flag any address containing the characters "PO Box" as undeliverable.
Freakin' PIA.

I grew up "out in the country" and everyone had PO boxes. Hell, my Mom still does. She's had the same one for 50+ years. There are no street addresses where I grew up (wait, I hear banjo music).
Some towns are small to the point were it is just more cost effective to just send all the mail and packages to one place and then you have to actually get off your butt and go get them yourself. It's old fashioned, and sometimes you might have to speak to an actual live human being, but it works.

I have dealt with Nate a couple of times. He is a good guy. He is a little different.
He lives up in the mountains, and keeps his storage in town, so the use of a PO box. Not real fast, but does get it done. I wouldn't worry. That is how he does it. A postal money order is his preferred mode of payment.

i too use a street address and a PO Box....anything important doest come to the house..period...my mail box is pretty much on the side of a major hiway...anyone that want to take my mail can drive up open the door and get it..and leave with no one ever seeing it.
i also have my parts held at the fedex or UPS office too..the rat bastards arent smart enough to figure out what to do with stuff so they just throw it next to the mail box...on the hiway..(read that as lazy and fat and 15 phone calls didnt fix the problem)
So i guess what i'm saying is, every one has a diff way to do business and if they feel safe with a PO box you should..a phone call to the guy seems to be better than posting on a forum..but thats my opinion....
