PICTURES OF CARS
Here are pictures of my cars. The first one is the '68 442 as it is today. Restoration was completed in June 2007. The second picture is of me waxing the same '68 442 on my 18th birthday in March 1969 - yes, my dad bought that car a month before that, when I was a senior in high school, and it's been in the family ever since. The third picture is of my '69 442 convertible purchased in 1987 - a well-optioned car that's a restoration in progress. The fourth is of the '70 plain jane GTO purchased in 1986 (bench seat, auto on column) and the 5th is of the '71 Corvette purchased in 1978 (base engine 350 auto). The last two cars are not Oldsmobiles but, if anything, they are still in the GM family! All cars are as factory original as I can get them. I've found that having 2 cars would be ideal; the other 2 are neat but it's almost become too much of a burden (note that I said "almost"; it's not there yet!). I hope these pictures come through; it's my first attempt so bear with me if they somehow don't make it! Randy C., Olympia, WA

The wheels are SSIs...supposedly not offered in 1968 when the new SS wheel came into being. I'm not too sure of that, however...the '68 Assembly Manual has a special page (manual section 10, page 124) dedicated to the wheel we know now as the SSI and that page is dated November 1, 1967, which is about 2.5 months after the beginning of the production year. It makes me wonder that perhaps, originally, the new SS wheel (not called SSII until the '69 production year), meant to replace the old SS wheel (also not called SSI until the '69 production year), was overcome by demand for the old SS wheel. It makes me speculate that possibly both were available from about November 1967 on, for the '68 production year, either being the PO5 option, as specified by the dealer or the new car owner. For the '69 production year, the SSI was the PO5 option (as it was in '66 and '67) and the SSII became the N66 option. Anyway, I thought the SSIs looked the best so that's why I put them on. The car originally came with steel wheels, wire wheel covers and white line tires. I saw the '68 442 convertible on ebay that looked just like mine, but the ebay car had many, many more options!
