Photos From Salvage Yard

Went out this weekend to a vintage salvage yard in search of some good glass for more Olds and ended up taking lots of photos. Here are some Olds related pics that I thought you all might be interested in seeing. Also found some Camaros, firebirds, Cudas, Challenders, Chargers.

Old Chev hot rod, looks like someone tried to chop it unsucessfully and dumped it:

Looks like someone didn't like ford escorts and had a bar-b-que:

Too bad they all can't be saved... I see a lot of good parts though.
Love that engine tree!

Too Cool! Great pics.
I agree that there are a ton of great parts on the hoof.
Not really on their hoofs anymore but their parts do keep a lot longer than a cow that's no longer hoofing it.
Smell a lot better too.

That tree made a real "Ash" out of that car.
Going by the flora and fauna along with the position of the sun it looks like the upper midwest to me....plus the cars have Minnesota plates.
Looks a lot like around here too but they're way too nice to be from this salt encrusted area.
The lift hook? on the Olds engine in that Chebby truck is medieval.
BTW, did you see any hippie skeletons in that van Natas??

While sad, at least they are there to breath life back into other. So many other yards are getting crushed.

I was there 3-4 years ago, couldn't believe there were still yards left like that. I was mainly scouting '64-'72 Cutlass parts but they were really picked over, as was most of the older stuff. Almost every musclecar-era car was missing the VIN/cowl/fender tag; I'm not sure if the salvage yard removed them, or if tag-swappers got them I did manage to find a few pieces; there's supposedly over 4000 vehicles there.

Here's some of the fairly uncommon iron;
442's
GTO's
AMX's
Dart GTS
AMC Rebel Machine
'69 Judge

Don't let them catch you with a camera however. You won't be welcomed back.

As I recall, the salvage yard had some kind of run-in with the EPA or MN Pollution Control Agency that prompted the "no photo" policy but don't remember the details. Maybe the photo policy has changed since I was there several years ago (2006 or 2007).

Helpful folks that run the place though. I was looking for a set of Pontiac Rally wheels, the owner knew the exact location of two cars that had two wheels each. One of his crew came along to show me where they were located and even helped me pull them. It amazed me that he knew where to find 4 wheels in a place that probably had 20,000 wheels in stock.

You're good on cowl tags! Help Me!

Rob,

Not on this topic, but maybe you can help!

I am not sure of the [ W ] I think it means tinted windshield....

Also, the [ 5W ] I don't have a clue!

All the rest I think I'm good!

Thanks,

--Don
