Lifts are great! Too bad my ceiling height is not as high as yours. Mine is too low for to stack two full sized cars. The idiots that built my house put the support beam across the bay so it took out about 16" of ceiling height. But at least I can get under the car to work on it.

Stacked 64's

Half my kingdom for a real shop, not just a garage

The fork lift was a real score. "FREE" the battery in it is dead, dead. I use 4 car batterys, 48 volts is all I need, for the amount I use it, it works great. I push a car a few feet or lift an engine out of a truck, move a few things.
A great score.

Lifts are much better than pits. I worked at the KC Zoo and they had a few pits that were built into their shop. Driving a vehicle over them for maintenance would cause nastiness and oil to drip into the pit that never got cleaned. Plus, there wasn't much room to move in the pit. Of course, if you are servicing a 10 ton front loader there aren't many lifts that can raise it.

I just wish I could walk around my 57 in my garage. Between collecting parts for the 48 and the yard tools, etc, I have to spend 2 hours moving things to the carport just to work on the Olds then move them back until the next time I work on it. A 100' x 75' shop is on the list now all I need is the money and the property.......................

That shop will be awsome once you get it built Pat.

I am glad that I can get around my 71 when I have it parked in the garage. I can have the door down and squeeze between the door and the bumper to get to the other side. I can also get between the wall and the other bumper; however, I have my newe 455 there right now. I am going to start taking the brackets off of the engine soon to get the new 455 in by summer.

Olds64,

Post some pictures of that new engine. And we expect step by step on the install.

Well I have a little more room in my garage now. John Schwarz made a road trip to my place today and purchased a 1967 Toro 425. It will be going in his 1953 Oldsmobile. Hopefully he'll be posting pictures of his project soon. John

A lift?!?! I wish I had a garage at this point.

All those cold days and restless night could have been spent doing things to the cars

I paid my dues, I spent plenty of time in sub-arctic temperatures in the snow and ice in skin-tearing sharp slag gravel driveways under my cars. I had to walk five miles to my drive too...uphill both ways.
I didn't even even have a jack, I had to use an army trench shovel and dig ditches so I could fit under there. That was after blowtorching the drive to thaw it some so I could dig in the cold hard ground first.

I'm not that ambitious anymore, had to do that more than enough on my own junk when that was all I could afford, and for other people running wrecker. I'm done with that crap thank you very much

you know what really sucks...I still have to do it every time the truck breaks, some times I wonder if its worth it

Everytime I'm under my car laying on my back trying to muscle a one hundred lb. transmission into place by myself, I think how nice a lift would be, unfortunately I don't have the ceiling height in my garage and I don't want to take up my garage concrete apron space with installing one outside.
