Ow vin stamping photographs

I found a '70 W30 with an OW transmission. I posted photographs of the OW tag and rivet and the tag looks right.
I've asked the seller for a photograph of the number stamped into the OW transmission. The seller said that he tried, but can't get a photograph of the VIN stamp. He took off the shift linkage, used a mirror and can't get a photograph. He read the numbers off the OW and they tie into the VIN number of the car.
He's willing to provide photographs of the stamp, but can't get a clear photograph. Any ideas how to photograph the VIN stamp on the OW??
Thank you and Happy New Year!

Number on OW read off to the seller.

Lansing car. Build date 06D.

Tell him to turn off the flash and shine a light from the side. Or if possible use the flash from the side. Light from the side should make it more visible.

Thanks for responding. I will pass on your idea and we'll see how the light and angle work. I'll keep you informed. Thanks again.

If he can get a picture of the tag he should be able to get one of the VIN stamp. With a floor shift cable it can be difficult but it is easy to remove for a good picture.

He removed the shift linkage attached to the transmission, put the car on a lift and has been taking pictures using his phone. He can't get a photograph of the numbers on the side of the transmission.
I asked him, as described above, to either try taking the photograph from the side or without the flash.
I believe him to be sincere. I want to ensure that he wasn't deceived with a restamp. He's owned the car fifteen (15) years.

He removed the shift linkage and also Disconnected the speedometer cable and couldn't get a decent photograph. When you described removing the floor shift cable, that would move with the floor linkage disconnected??

What Larry was saying was to shine a strong light like a flashlight from the side onto the numbers whe taking the picture straight on. This can highlight the raised and sunken portions of the stamp.

THanks RetroRanger!! I'll pass this on to the seller. Sounds like this will work. I'll keep you informed.

Use a dark crayon to fill in the stamping , then take a photo.

Actually, just have the seller take a pencil rubbing of the VIN derivative. That's often the best way to read the numbers anyway.

I'm being cautious. I want to see the stamp on the transmission to verify that it is the original stamp and ties into the VIN number. Although I believe the seller to be sincere, " Trust but verify." Ronald Reagan.
I had posted photographs of the engine compartment, frame stamp and the underside in an earlier post.

That carburetor would not have come on that car. The date is much to old. At least I have not seen that late of a car with that old of a carburetor. It could have happened but very unlikely. I would like to see another picture of the carb numbers from another angle. You may want to post the carb number picture on the Re-stamp thread and get other opinions of the stamping. I am not sure on this one from that picture. Looks like a really nice car though.

Thank you for your information on the carburetor and your compliment on the car. I am most concerned about the OW stamp to confirm that the transmission is an OW and hasn't been restamped or altered.

If not, I may consider the car a really nice, solid 442 convertible.

The trans ID tag looks to be correct.

I agree. This stamping looks suspicious to me but I was not willing to say full restamp yet.

This is a convertible, correct? Wy does it have the 455 fender braces? Windshield washer bottle mounted on wrong fender. Looks like it has a radiator overflow. May have used a couple cars to make one, or just ove restored.

As far as I am aware all 1970 W30 Auto 7040258 carburetors were assembled in the same plant which is the "RK" code.
