It's getting harder and harder to find repop parts that actually work right out of the box. Alternators and starters are especially vulnerable to this. If you've ever had a problem, diagnosed it and fixed it, only to find out the part you just installed is NO GOOD right out of the box is a recipe for insanity.
I think a signal stalk will be ok. (maybe?)

It’s not a new thing. I worked at auto parts stores in the late 80s and we tested reman alternators and starters before they left the store to make sure they actually worked due to so many being returned.
On/Off toggle switch on the dash and the button in the end of the turn signal level to engage/set the speed. Also has a switch on the brake pedal to disengage. Basically the same setup until the 1978 when the came out with the all in one turn signal/Cruise Control lever.
Thanks for the feedback. I should have/meant to have said I never owned a 1972 w/ Cruise Control, since I did own a 1972 4-4-2 w/o Cruise Control.
I've been assisting a chap on another thread regarding a (supposed) 1972 convertible top switch which evidently has turned out to be Cruise Control dash toggle switch.

I remember when I took a auto electrical class back in the 70's at a community college the instructor brought in a rebuilt starter and alternator right off the parts store shelf. They were for us students to take apart and put back together. He said before we started that we would see problems- and we did. The starter had a broken brush holder and something else was broken in the alt. Very poor workmanship.
