Option codes

Just thought I'd share the option codes that my 72 Cutlass Supreme has...
C60-air conditioning
G80-anti spin differential (SD axle code with 3.08 gearing)
J50-power brakes
JL2-front disc brakes
L75-U code 455 cubic inch engine (VIN derivative verified)
M40-TH400 auto transmission
N33-tilt steering column
N47-power steering

That's what I can verify so far based on my research and what I can actually see on the car. It has dual exhaust, but in the event my quest for the build sheet bears no fruit, how else can I verify it's a N-10 car?

Thanks,
Dave

Look for a cap on the crossover port on the exhaust manifold. Those were essentially unavailable for many years, so many times when converting to duals the crossover pipe was cut and welded closed. If there's a cap and it's rusty and looks like it's been there for 40 years, it may be original. This is not definitive but it may help build the case. If it's a shiny new cap, then you can't really determine anything.

First, you can't have both J50 and JL2. J50 is power brakes for the stock DRUM brake system. JL2 is power disc brakes. In fact, if you read this page from the SPECS booklet, J50 was not even available with L75 - all L75 cars got JL2 disc brakes mandatory.

Second, ALL 1972 U-code cars (in fact, all 1972 L75 A-body cars) came with dual exhaust as standard equipment. These cars would have used W/Z manifolds from the factory, so no crossover pipe option even existed.

Copy that and thanks for clearing that up for me.
