Online Canadian Parts Suppliers

Are there no decent online Canadian parts suppliers? I don't mean resto suppliers though. I mean places like either Summit Racing or Rock Auto, which I always seem to order from. There seems to be no equivalents in Canada.

What's the consequence of this on shipping costs? I pay maybe $7.00 for shipping for a "typical" Rockauto order, and that's by UPS Ground. Of course, that's highly depending on the weight of the thing. But I think I paid that in shipping back when I bought a $70 fuel tank sending unit, which is a small, light item that might weigh 4 lbs, including packaging. What would Canadians pay in shipping for a $70 order for something of that size?

by UPS probably $45.00...They charge at least $35.00 in fees to process customs...The only decent way to ship from the US is by mail...no fees..

Cheap shipping is going the way of the dodo...

$45 shipping on a $70 order? Wow. Would almost be enough to make me move to the U.S.!

When you order, are you given the option of choosing shipping by mail right there as you are completing your order, does a place like Rockauto automatically choose that method by default, or do you have to specifically request that mode of shipping by, say, phone or email? When I order from there, the only shipping options are typically UPS Ground or something more upscale from there, like 2nd day or overnight. But U.S. mail isn't an option. They would use mail if it was a very small item like an air cleaner gasket or something like that. But anything with any heft to it at all is always by UPS or Fedex.

If an order is higher, I usually have it sent to my US forwarder in Niagara Falls, NY, then drive over to pick it up to save duty. Shipping is less, sometimes much less.

I was just hoping to support something locally for a change.

Nice, but not an option for someone who doesn't live within a reasonable drive of the border.
