Oldsmobiles With A Continental Trunk??

I'm really curious about this. I can't find anything about them online...my Uncle's '74 Cutlass Supreme has one, and I really want to know how uncommon they are! I did find an EBay ad for a trunk, though!

It is one-of-none... The seller said it best:

We Think The Dealer Had It Made.

Aftermarket suppliers were making all sorts of custom body parts at the time - just check out any vintage issue of Hot Rod. Did you see the thread on another forum where someone stated that car with the black lid that's on Ebay came from an IL dealer originally? Probably came from the same source as the lid on your uncle's car since you're not that far away in the Midwest. They look to be identical pieces.

So it wasn't a factory option, then. My Uncle has known the previous owner personally for a long time, so I think I may try to talk to them.

I just can't figure out how to post pics on this site...but, I have a pic of a '73 Monte Carlo with the continental kit. Definitely an after-market thing.

Continental kits are still big in lowrider community and there is still quite a few shops that make em. They make in all kinds of shape and form, from spare tire on a 30" bumper to just a bump in the lid.

I saw a car I think was an Olds with a continental kit but it was under a tarp so unable to confirm what it really was. Saw it from across the street at a gas station.
