Oldsmobile model car contest ?

Since winter time is setting in on us and I know some of you guys still build model cars I thought it might be cool to have a little friendly competition so to speak to kill some time. No real prize. Just bragging rights and showing off. Post pics of what you are building or have built.

Couple simple guide lines.

1- Oldsmobiles only. Any year type or model. Nothing else.

2- Plastic kits only. NO diecasts. Unless you radicly modify it yourself.

3- Same for Hot Wheels or any other small diecasts.

Feel free to post pics of old or rare Oldsmobile kits you have. I'm just getting back into this myself and will be digging out some projects I started years ago.

Most of all don't worry about how good you are or are'nt. This is for fun.

And a pic of a 68 F-85 Ram Rod I found online.

That is a cool idea. I have not built a model car in more than 25 years. I happened to have gotten 2 unopened AMT '69 442 kits with one of the cars I bought last year...

I've been trying to find a '72 Cutlass Supreme Hardtop Coupe in 1/24 or 1/25 to do up a replica of mine, but this is the only one I can find.

Unfortunately it is a droptop and has the incorrect wing. I guess I would need a Cutlass Supreme Hardtop Coupe one and a 442 so I can put on the ram air hood.

Has anyone ever found a 1969 Cutlass/442 convertible plastic or die-cast model? I've seen some hardtops but never a convertible.

gaoldsman- Just buy the 72 H/O kit. You'll get the hood. Follow my links for a 72 H/O hardtop. It's trhe closest your gonna get.

holidaycoupe - Nice job. Keep the pics coming.

texas69- Follow my links. I saw a 69 convert somewhere. It may have been on ebay.

jeremiah- Good as time as any.

Here's some interesting helpful links to find something you may have been looking for.

Sorry about the link for the post coupe bodies. You'll just have to keep checking it.

These are not for sale but if you look it shows who makes them so you can hunt it down. Scroll down, there's a 72 H/O hardtop. I've been trying to find this kit online but I've no luck.

http://www.toys-n-cars.com/resin_kits.htm

http://www.toys-n-cars.com/images/72%20cutlass..jpg

Vista Cruisers and 442's plus more.

http://www.resinrealm.net/GALLERIES/...ery/index.html

You gotta check this one for the Toronado race cars.

http://www.speedcityresin.com/COMINGSOON.htm

BUILD OF THE SCALE EQUIPMENT LTD 1973 HURST/OLDS. It's still available but a bit pricey at $250.00 and now it does'nt include the decals. I only paid $75.00 for mine when it first came out. I sold it. I'm still kicking myself for that one. Don't forget to check out his other builds.

http://www.gonzosmodelcarsandfigures...URST-OLDS.html

Alot of classic Oldsmobiles like a 71 Delta 88.

http://www.rocketfin.com/resin_search_results.cfm

THE MOTHERLOAD for all manufacturers.

http://www.rocketfin.com/model_car_links.html

http://www.detroitresinautomotivegro...dragtreea1.gif

This place has alot of cool diorama stuff including this cool dragstrip/tree setup. Make sure to check out some of there other stuff.

http://www.scalemodelingbychris.com/124-Drag_Tree.htm

You have to check these guys out. Make sure to click on the Oldsmobile and it will show you the pics.

http://resinrealm.net/Star/RRGalleries/RR_All.html

Look what this guy did to scratch build a 72 Vista Cruiser. WOW. Now thats talent.

http://public.fotki.com/am73grand/ol...vista-cruiser/

And a build of the Roy Munson Cutlass convertible from Kingpin. Ever notice how many different cars they used in that movie ? Pay attention to the shifters and steering wheels. And the new stoneshield. And the simularities like the seats in the 71 442 in Bad to the bone.

http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/i...howtopic=62884

And of coarse ebay if you are looking for a plastic kit such as a newly released 1950 Olds 2 in 1 kit. Don't forget to change your search to Olds, 442, Cutlass or whatever you are looking for.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...le&_sacat=2580

How about some Ron Garey Chesrown Oldsmobile decals. Incorrect for the 68 shown in the pic but hey you knew that.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ron-Garey-Ch...item337cc6f27b

And a pro built 1969 W-31. Kinda looks like a Smothers Brothers car ? Nice job.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PRO-BUILT-19...item5aea5d789a

And some models for BIGJERR.

http://www.seltd.net/ez-catalog/X344...ge=4;order_by=

Ok, time to get off my butt and start posting some pics.

Go here for replacement parts, 68-72 442 conversion parts including ram air hoods, bumpers etc. Very high quality parts. Plus some nice classic 40's-60's Olds kits.

Nice job. Keep em coming guys.

Almost done with the 68 interior. Painting the gauges was a *itch.

000_0550.jpg

Here's a 69 Cutlass I started years ago. The A-piller got broken in the move. I've been working on fixing it.

000_0548.jpg
000_0549.jpg

And another 69-68 conversion I started.

000_0551.jpg

I'll be starting a 75 Cutlass soon. Not sure what the plans are yet but I have a few ideas.

Risin kits are made out of resin instead of the usual plastic and most often are subjects that are in high demand from either being never made in kit form or disscontinued many years ago. Resin is just a little more brittle then the plastic and you need to use super glue instead of model glue. Sometimes there is a little extra sanding and clean up to do but not always. The new resin kits nowadays are way better then when they first come out. They are a little more exspensive due to demand and the subject nature.

If you guys take a look at some of those links I posted you will be amazed at some of the stuff made nowadays.

I've never used any myself. I was gonna grab some for my 66 and 67. I don't know of anyone doing a post coupe body. Check some of those links I posted.

Something cool that was on ebay.
