Olds Camino?

Check this out - I'm not sure what to think but I couldn't stop looking at it.

Eh. It's one of those late eighties models. They all look the same.

If it had an Olds engine, I'd be impressed .

Sure is an interesting body fabrication and the color works right too. Somethings not right though; the numbers don't add up. 1000 hours of work and asking 13,900? There's a catch somewhere.

Somebody else did that on here.

Took an old El Camino with a blown up 305 SBC and torn up interior and like crap and an old Cutlass with frame issues and swapped over the engine, nose, and interior.

Looked pretty decent IMHO

I found a couple threads where someone did that but it might not be the same one. This guy used the Chevy engine.

It would impress me a lot more if it was a 70-72 with an Olds power train, Cutlass interior and a W-30 hood.

I'm going to assume you guys have seen this one....I've had it in one of my photo files for a while. The pics not very big, but somebody did A LOT of body work to pull this off. I do not like "car trucks" but this is pretty sweet.

A few years back there was a guy in NJ, that took an Olds Bravada nose and grafted it to a GMC Cyclone I think. It kinda worked....

As with all of these G-body Camino conversions (I've seen them for all three other divisions, B, O, and P), the builder wimps out and never changes the Chevy rear wheel opening or the body line behind the rear wheels. Look closely - they don't match the Olds lines. I actually have a 79 Camino and I've been actively looking for a G-body Cutlass wagon to use as a sheet metal donor for this conversion. The wagon body lets me fix the body lines on the rear quarters. Yes, I'm aware that the Camino has a longer wheelbase and thus longer quarters.

OK, now I'm impressed. You're right about a lot of body work There's a lot more going on besides just hanging a front clip on. The doors have been modified to carry the fender lines. The vent wings are gone and maybe even the window frames cut off. That would require changing the door window and the window hardware inside the door.

I'd like to see the interior and under the hood as well as the rear end. The rear corner looks like he made some major changes on the back side.

Thanks for posting that Bluemeanie.

The wagon sounds like the smartest way to go. I know 70-72 Caminos were build on a wagon chassis. I would assume the 79 was too. On my 70 there's a panel on the floor of the bed behind the cab that looks a little like the shape of a wagon fold down back seat. When I pulled it up there were mounts for a rear seat and seat belts welded to the floor pan.

There's a Buick Regal/Grand National version of the El Camino around this area. It's cool to look at, but she's starting to get a little rusty which is taking away from it's looks.
