olds 455 running hot

Hey I just had my 1970 455 rebuilt to stock specs with a mild cam since I got it back it has been running hot after about 5 miles I changed to water pump, thermostat (180),fan clutch, and now a new 4 core radiator after changing the radiator I seem to run around 185 but still fill my overflow bottle after driving a short distance is that normal? Thanks for any help

The overflow bottle should be full to the proper level all the time - the COLD level when cold, the HOT level when hot.

185° vs 180° is well within the expected accuracy margin of the average temperature gauge (specifically, within 3%).

Yes, and the overflow bottle will maintain the level in the radiator, as Eric stated it has a full mark.
