Olds 455 marine engine teardown

Hello All, just thought some here might find this video interesting. Go easy on me though I'm more of a Pontiac guy but I think most of the information is backed up and correct.

Great video, very surprised no 4 bolt main. The other problem is why GM ever used a nylon cam chain gear. They say it lessens the noise, crazy... Thanks for sharing

Cool video.... something about that AI voiceover that grates on me, but that's my hangup.

"Right away the carb dated this engine to 1972"

No, actually it dated the carb to 1972, you can certainly assume the rest of the engine follows as long as other casting #'s match up...

I must say that I was impressed by two things. First the use of Dr. Oldsmobile and "his assistant" in the video. Not surprised, impressed. Of course, we all understand and appreciate the meme. I doubt if not many others do, it is our inside mutual trivia knowledge that continues to set us apart from all other GM divisions. Second the ability of the assistant to lift that long block up out of the pickup bed. I guess it isn't any surprise that weightlifters are able to do that, it is just made more impressive to see someone doing that with a weight other than gym accessories. It kind of reminds me of the old-time strong men in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Thanks for sharing.

Pretty sure a good amount of that video is AI generated. Real good info about an engine I didn't even know existed. Too bad it wasn't kept out of the elements.

I presume that is sarcasm as that was all phony AI generated.

I understand that, I was just referring to the narration immediately dating the engine to 1972 initially just based on the carb #'s

I'd argue the imagery displayed in the video was created via CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) animation & rendered via Motion Capture (mocap) AKA Motion Tracking rather than AI.

I disagree, it's Wonky AI, hallucinating not getting items 'quite' right...
I present the following...

Look at the front end, it can't decide what year for the car, it's an amalgamation of 1969 - 1972...

Which model would this be.

Front tires leaving burn out marks...

Dr. Oldsmobile 'disappears'....

Rear end taillights are a freakshow..

End of video... tail ights have changed... and look more like 73's.
