Olds 425-powered Go Cart
As the owner of an under-appreciated 425 7L, I'm always looking for information about this bad *** engine. And here's something I just found. Olds 425-powered homemade Go Cart!

Back in the early 80's there was a friend of a friend who built a lawn tractor with a Olds V8 in it as a puller. I remember it as being cool as hell! It was short and no hood, just the big Olds V8. I think it was a 425 or 400. It had big 4x4 mud tires on the rear, no exhaust system after the manifolds. He was all set to go to a local tractor pull to compete in the mini class or what ever it was called. I decided to go. When it came his turn he backed up to the drag weight and was hooked up. He couldn't pull the weight at all, the small original lawnmower frame twisted to where the big Olds was almost at about a 90 degree angle. Very funny, but disappointing. He was embarrassed in front of all his locals. I don't know if he gave up on it or got it to work later.

Cool that he built it but it looks like it needs some sorting out. A good tune up maybe & it looked like it was steaming/overheating? Also that roll bar looks like it would fold right over with little effort. I would still drive the crap out of it though.
