Olds 330 heat riser problem

I have an exhaust leak from around the heat riser valve shaft. The spring is long gone and I guess there would be a bushing in the hole but it's missing. Does anyone know of a replacement, or even how to remove it from the manifold? Never saw a setup like this before.

I don't thiink they are repairable at all easily. I have a pair from a 67 Cutlass 330 that I could check, but they are probably good since the car has been sitting since the mid 80s.

You can buy them new/used, or you can go to a muffler shop and have them weld it.

I'm wondering how you'd get it off the manifold.. I'd probably just have to buy the manifold complete. Be sure to let me know what you find..

Mine had no bushing. I ended up cutting it out and tapping the hole for a pipe plug. My spring was gone also

Once you take the head pipe off, the heat riser slides off.
I would have the muffler shop cut the shaft and weld up the holes.

I might as well get rid of it then, it's just rattling around and leaking. Supposedly they don't do a whole lot anyway.

This is a 330 not a 394!

You know your right. It has been a while since I had to do one of those.
I say cut the end of the shaft, slide it out and weld up the holes.
