My Olds Cutlass Salon 78 was formerly a 3800 six. Today there is a V8 under the hood, and the seller says itīs a 260 rocket.
But itīs red! Please help me:
Welcome. Yes, that is a Chevy motor of some unknown displacement. Definitely NOT a 260 (though Chevy did make a 267). While these cars did come from the factory with an optional 305 Chevy motor, it would have been corporate blue, not Chevy orange. FYI, the wheels are Buick, so no telling what else has been done to the car.
No Joe isn't clairvoyant, he just reads all the forums including the newbie forum. There is a good side view of the car in question.. Being somewhat of a purest I think I would probably pick the SBC over the turtle anemic 260 Olds, just not the best engine Oldsmobile ever made... Tedd
Thank You guys for Your quick replies!
I fear I bought a little bastard.
But I think on the other hand the car is in a good state and very rare in Germany.
I do not know about the differences between American and European versions of the Aeroback. I never seen this car in Germany except my one!
My Valiant is built in Switzerland, but the Cutlass is made in USA. Maybe a Canadian version?
No a hunchback! It does like in great shape. You will have to check the casting on the block and the Vin to figure out what is in there and what came from the factory. Didn't the 305 come in that year from the factory?
Joe is right, thank you! It is a Chevy 262 1975, built just one year, coming from a Chevy Monza.
The car doesnīt really accelerate, it is casting off, as a steam ship.
