Oklahoma wagon adventure

I found this bittersweet 71 wagon on CL about two months ago. My buddy Rick is the orig owner of a 71 bittersweet 4 speed 442. So I told him he had to have it.
Now the wagon he bought in Houston on our Texas trip will be coming to my house. This is why I'm selling my 68 vista.
The blue 72 is a u code car and will be cloned into a 442 wagon when I have time and funds.

Nice wagon! There's not enough of these around anymore.

Thanks guys. He made out good in this one. Interior isn't as. Ice as the green one he had. But the body is dent free. His old one needed panel repair and two doors replaced.
I'm fired up about the 72 I'm getting. It's farther along than my 68 so I hope to get it on the road this year.

I've got the green one that you and Rick had. I'm looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.

Let me know if you or Rick has a wagon sending unit that is in working condition. Mine isn't working.

There is a guy selling an nos sending unit for vista. It's for 68-69. Not sure if there is a difference. I've heard you can also get originals rebuilt but haven't investigated further.

Glad you found the forum. Hope you are having fun with the car.

A sending unit from 68-69 would probably work. It doesn't look like there was any sort of design change in that area of the car in '70. Is the guy selling the sending unit on here?

Yeah I am having fun with the car. Found a little rust beneath the trim just aft of the front driver side tire. I ground it off, primed and painted it. That should stop it. Plus I keep the car out of the rain. If the rust gets worse then I'll have to have that area cut out and patched. Since Rick used the correct code paint it was easy to match the paint. You can't see the repair anyways because it's under the trim.

That and the sending unit are the only real issues with the car. Other than the usual oil drips here and there. I had the carb gasket replaced with the correct one and the carb adjusted. Had the timing advanced a little to help with vacuum. It runs beautifully now. The back brakes needed replacing (wheel cylinder, pads and e-brake cable). Replaced all of the interior lights that weren't working.

Just working out a few of the bugs.
