Oil filters
I am happy where I work carries the Baldwin B9, hopefully I can squeeze it in my 70S, we don't carry the B39. It is a $19 filter, unfortunately 🤨. I couldn't fit the B2 in my Dakota but we carry the B34, at around $10. I see the price of all the filters has gone up. We carry Fram also, only a couple of Tough Guard, only the Orange Can of Doom for anything I own. I see Fram Tough Guard now has metal end caps in place of the fiber end gaps. I saw a less than flattering pic of one of these new design filters opened, glue and uneven pleats. Most cheap filters are just repainted Orange Can's of Doom. I see Quaker State filters are actually Purolator filters and surprisingly cheap. The Castrol Synthetic and OE spec filters also look like good quality but are available only in the small size filter for the Olds V8. Most filters cost too much on Amazon in Canada. I did pick up a bunch of Pure One filters for $5 to $8 each on an AMAZON sale for my Challenger, cheap up here. I picked up a couple of the Wix XP synthetic filters for $10 off Amazon on sale for my Dakota and my Daughter's Edge. Peavey Mart no longer carry Hastings, just the Orange Can of Doom now, sucks. Napa carries the 1258 for around $12 each, in the next town, 30 minutes away.
OP is in Western Canada. Can they get WIX there other than online?
An aside- bought a new WIX airfilter for the 02 Grand Marquis a couple weeks back. Tried to install it and the filter was over an inch too narrow. Double-checked the application number which was correct and then looked close at the number on the filter itself. Totally different number. Who knows where the boxing goof-up happened.
Took it back, O'Reilly didn't have another WIX in stock so I got one of their house brand MicroGard filters, made by Mann+Hummell- who just coincidentally own and make WIX and Purolator branded filters.

Yeah, if I can squeeze in the B9, I may try the 1049. A few places can get Wix but like Baldwin, not easy to get from many places locally. It looks like the B9 is every bit as good as the 1049, maybe better. I wish the XP line was available for the Olds V8.
Napa is the best bet here. Rock Auto is good but by the time you convert the dollar and shipping, not so cheap, Napa is the cheapest up here. This Napa keeps multiples of the 1258 in stock, I bought two and pretty sure they stock the 1049 as well. Also have the 3/8" inline metal fuel filter I use in stock as well. I need to see if I can squeeze in the B9 or 1049 with my current exhaust.
Yes, Napa number is 3033 , US made, I think. I used either that or the 3/8" Hastings GF3 filter the last few years. I currently have the Spectra 3/8" Chrome on the 70S. Both were Chinese made.
I can confirm as a competitor to NAPA we are getting changeovers from installers because the NAPA filters are no longer supplied by WIX.
May or may not be related to Mann Hummel acquiring WIX in the last year or two.

Anyone know how long this has been the case? I put a NAPA fuel filter (3033) in my Q-Jet in the spring, and just installed an oil filter (1049) that I bought in the summer.
