Congrats Wes! I understand your mixed feelings watching your little boy make man sized decisions. That has got to be a difficult step in the parenting process. You can be proud that you've brought him to this point in his life!

He will always be your kid, no matter what.
I salute him for having the desire to serve and help protect our country.
[insert saluting smiley here]
I know it is hard to see him go away, but this is what he wants to do and it is a very respectable thing, too.
I wish him the very best and to you and your family.
We will have all our support!

So he's Canadian and joined the US military ??
I also went to boot in Recruit Training Command up in Waukegan back in 1992. I'm from this area though.
I was also stationed down in Pensacola for my A & C school training as a Crypto.
There's 2 bases in P-cola. Corry Station for Crypto and Electronic Warfare training and NAS Pensacola for the airbase.
They're 5 minutes from each other. Beautiful area down there, he's going to love the white sand beaches.
What job aka "Rating" did he get ?

Ahhh.....so yeah he will be on NAS Pensacola.
They have a Aviation museum on there still I believe.
He's going to LOVE that area......I guarantee it.
Looks like Cheetah and Benny's Doll House are gone.
Best of luck to him. SPECWAR isn't an easy ordeal.
Buds down in Coronado is pretty intense on the mind and body.
San Diego is the ONLY part of California I actually liked. Beautiful area.
Tijuana right next door too......woot.
Been down there a few times for training, stayed in the Swastika barracks.
Kinda humorous because back then I never knew these looked like this from the sky.
Sad thing is this symbol stood for power long before the ****'s used it.
But now the "Politically correct" whiners are making a stink about it.

Yes he is Canadian but had to get U.S. citizenship in order to try and join the Seals. not sure how it works
