Oddball Olds Speedparts
Just a convo starter here, what are some of the cool Olds speed parts you guys have come across over the years? I keep doing eBay searches for a gold iridated front cover to match my Milodon oil pan, well knowing that it probably never existed haha.

Not really a lot in my stash.
Richmond 3.90 gears for the O-Type rearend.
One each Edelbrock Performer 455, Performer 350, and SBO Performer RPM.
Hooker BBO headers.
Oh yeah, the Hurst Dual Gate that’s in my 71 convertible.

There were experimental parts cast years ago. Check this tread out for some details. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...neering-63490/
Always fun to look at multiple carb and blower intakes. The hemi Olds come up every few months to discuss and dream about. I enjoy a good read on stroker set ups, nascar blocks and even the DRCE .
I've not owned any of these mentioned.
I don't see why a timing cover couldn't be coated like milodon pans. Probably not a proprietary or exclusive coating.

3.90 for O type is a good find! Dual gate is pretty slick too

You jogged my memory. I also have an O-Type from a ‘68 442 4 speed - TL code with 3.42 gears; HD version with 31 spline axle shafts. It's the one in the middle.

Not a factory intake, but a few years ago a guy had a custom intake built to take four (YES FOUR) Q-jets. the engine sounded like no other sound coming from an Olds engine. Would RPM immediately and fall on its face.

I remember that disaster....it had such bad fuel standoff, it would soak the windshield in gas when driving.

Seen a few cool parts at the 100th anniversary in Lansing. Stainless steel water jacketed valve covers that olds used for endurance testing on the dyno. and a W30 intake that wasnt flat like usual,,it was like a high rise dual plane.

If there had been a way to isolate each side of carb butter flys from the other, this thing might have worked. Opening all of the butter flys at the same time was its downfall. One side of the butter fly was ready for fuel but the other wasn't . Had there been a plenum under each carb, it would have been better.

Not exactly a speed part, since it involved a swirl port 307. The experimental TBI intake for the 85 and up swirl port 307 motors. I thought one on a mid 85 to 87 442 would make people scratch their heads, since it would look stock.
