OCA Associate Membership

In the OCA renewal notice it offers an associate membership to a person living in the same household for $5. It grants the person "full membership status" and the person does not receive JWO.

Does anyone know what the benefit(s) would be?

My step-son now has the associate membership, so he can actually get credit for when he helps with judging. He has done this three times and only got credit for the last one.
