Non computer 307

If i read the service manual correctly, the AIR system is computer controlled. Along with the carb, distributor, and the torque convertor lockup.

If i buy an aftermarket distri. and put a non ccc carb and add a lockup switch, the 307 should run fine correct?.
and i believe the AIR system is literally attatched to the block. So if i didnt remove it (because i dont know how to block the holes that would be there) would that affect the motor?

Im asking this because im swapping a 403 in my 85 delta so im just trying to do some small things while im saving up my money for the rebuild.

Sorry for the length of this post!!! Thanks

The A.I.R. functions that are computer controlled are the switching from air to the exhaust ports in open loop mode to air into the converter in closed loop mode to avoid melting down the cat. This is the Air Switching Valve. There is also a Diverter valve that is computer controlled that dumps air pump output into the air cleaner when you close the throttle suddenly to avoid backfires. Does your 403 even have the A.I.R. ports in the head?

My 403 does not. I was asking for my 307. I have to replace the head gasket on the 307 and i really want to get rid of that A.I.R system. It makes its a hassle but it sounds like its needed.
