New Style Fuse

Can anyone tell me when GM started using the blade fuses as opposed to the glass fuses? I think it was 78 or 79, but not sure. I Googled it but could not find the answer.

To my best knowledge: 77 on the downsized big cars. 78 on everything else.

My '78 Toronado does not have the blade fuses. Still the same glass tube fuses.

I have the '77 and '78 service manuals, and it's actually interesting.

For '77, it shows that the Starfire, Omega, Cutlass, and Toronado used the glass tube fuses while only the 88/98 series used the blade fuses.

For '78, 88/99 and Cutlass used the blade fuses while the Starfire, Omega, and Toronado continued to use the glass tube fuses.

Looks like fuses changed as the cars were downsized.

When the blade fuses first appeared I wasn't sure how well I liked them. Then I realised how hateful glass tube fuses were to remove/replace compared to the blade type. Especially if they'd been in there for decades with a little corrosion on the clips.
