my 62 starfire it was purchased by my grandmother in 1972 from the original owner. The olds was loved bye her for the next twenty five years until it passed into my cousins hands. He tried to keep her up but like most of us had to put home and family ahead of the old car in the barn. To make a short story long. After years of hounding he finally gave in and sold her to me. I have had it for about a year now. She is back to a real nice daily driver status. I have a lot of work to do on her but she can still turn a lot of heads When I take her out for a ride its like I'm 16 all over again, taken grandma to the store. what a treat it was and is to drive grandmas pride and joy. The best part is my kids are starting their own love affair with a special old car.

A little more description please. Size of hose, all that. It could be either the power brake vacuum source or the crankcase ventilation vacuum source. There are two very different crankcase venting systems for this car depending on full California emissions or not.
I strongly recommend buying the factory shop manuals for this car. They'll tell you a lot about it. You need: the 1961 manual, and the 1962 supplement.

OK I have the 62 service manual I guess i will get ahold of the 61 version too. Ive been under the assumption that it is pcv related since the hole in the driver side valve cover was also empty but freely admit to absolutely no knowledge of this kind of thing I will get the hose size and get back to you thanks for the help.

Are you talking about the line almost under the choke on the passenger side of the carburator? From what I can see it splits into a "tee' fitting - one side goes to the idle compesator ( that uses a steel line ) and the other side splits into 2 more "tee' fittings. One line disappears behind the firewall and one line splits off for the vacuum advance and vacuum trunk release, assuming you have this option.
