Hey, as I mentioned previously in another thread I purchased a new to me Camaro this past fall. Got rid of our megavan, as it had served its purpose and it was time to move on.
Had it in the garage all winter just waiting to take it out and enjoy some date nights with it. Went for the V-6 due to my daughter soon being on the insurance and also because I was afraid to buy the SS used (and possibly abused...) Had my eye on the newer gen, as I like the styling a bit better but I just couldn't find a good enough of a deal with leather and nav. So this is what I ended up with:
Got a good price on it, however that didn't come without sacrifice. Wheels were painted, which many seem to be doing these days, however not near perfect. Also, many scratches from towel washing/drying and I'm wondering how to get those out. Could use your ideas there. I plan on posting some additional pics once I get it out on a sunny day. You can really notice it in then.
Anyway, I had also previously mentioned about peering out over the hood and seeing the stripes just like in the W-30. It is a cool reminder of that car to me and I'll be thinking about it every time I take it out.
So I know you guys are Olds guys, but this is probably about as close as you can get today...even built in Lansing (for the 6th Gen.) Popping out the rear seats to search for the broadcast card!

Thanks droptopron, I've not floored it yet but I would hope it could at least beat our Fusion. Ford is doing amazing things with that Ecoboost.
Speaking of turbos...yes Eric, I need that for sure. HAHA! And the documentation, that's a process I definitely miss. Don't worry, I'm not switching over to Chevelles.
Anyway, I just figured I'd show everyone here---not showing off. If I wanted to do that I would have got a ZL1. However I did enter the lottery for the COPO this past year and no dice. Although if I won that I was just going to see if Stefano wanted it because it was a little out of my range. HA!

Totally disagree, although the lastest version looks better, the Challenger still looks better. My Wife beat a base Camaro with our lowly 250 hp 2010 Dodge Challenger SE at highway speed, which is where it shines but still should not have happened. The Camaro had 55 hp minimum and is lighter. Your car should be mid 14's at any rate.

The thing I don't like about the Challenger is that they haven't had as much of a refresh as the Camaros have through their different generations. But to each his own.
I didn't buy this for ET. Makes no difference to me how fast it is or isn't aside from the fact that when I go to pull out it traffic it doesn't feel like a Ford Escort.

Were you looking at the 16s and newer? I do like the way those look but from all the forums I've searched they have had their fair share of issues. Probably worked out by the 2018 model. But that reliability scared me away from them some.
I still have the factory bumper to bumper on the one I bought for quite a while and after that I have what's left on the 5yr/100k warranty. On the 2016s they went to the 5/60k. Matters if you put on a lot of miles, but I doubt I'll use half of that.
IMO Challenger doesn't compete with the Camaro & Mustang. They're huge cars. More of a grand touring car. The style of the newest gen Camaro is debatable but they put a real emphasis on losing weight and it shares a lot of the suspension bits with the Cadillacs.

Yes, a useable back seat and trunk in the Challenger and handles very nice. Very similar in size inside and out with my 70 Cutlass S. Remember our cars weren't pony cars back then.

I bought a 2013 2 7:41:59 PM RS new in 2013. 325 hp stock, and handles amazing. Then I added the factory strut tower brace and now the 20 inch P Zeros are glued and it is like it is on rails. I test drove the stang and the challenger in v6, camaro out handled and ride better. Enjoy.

Yes, I might find myself testing out the G Meter on the heads up display. I also have the 20 inch wheels. Just got back from a 1000 mile road trip. No complaints. Just have to keep the cruise set for the speed limit or 5 above due to the attention this color attracts.

All the 5th Gen Camaros were produced in Canada and all of the 6th Gens are produced in Lansing. Just a side note, but my Sales Manager for our NicKey Brand car sales and all three of his brothers as well as his wife all worked at the Lansing plant, building Oldsmobiles and when he ordered his new 6th Gen Camaro he was able to get into the plant to see it being built (top secret operation). Just thought that was a Kool side note ..........
Yep, confirmed GM Canada on the door now. I don't know why I was thinking Lansing for the 2015 convertibles...but I do like how they brought the 6th Gen production there.
That would be neat to see your car built like that. I rented a 6th Gen Camaro SS for the Olds Nationals trip to TN. Was a beast and very fun coming back though the mountains. I couldn't get over the 0-60 time. Impressive. But not very quiet. HAHA!

Easiest way for me to make them vanish was to use my Griot's random orbital polisher with Meguiar's Ultimate Polish and maybe Ultimate Compound, depending on depth. I'm almost 60 so do very little by hand anymore but these polisher work great if you've never used. Almost impossible to damage finish! Good Luck with the Camaro...nice ride!

Still tons of spider web type scratches. Thinking the paint just isn't so great on these cars. But from 5 feet away it looks amazing with the color and stripes.

Easiest way for me to make them vanish was to use my Griot's random orbital polisher with Meguiar's Ultimate Polish and maybe Ultimate Compound, depending on depth. I'm almost 60 so do very little by hand anymore but these polisher work great if you've never used. Almost impossible to damage finish! Good Luck with the Camaro...nice ride!

Thanks for the info on how it worked for you. I use the Griot's detailing products. Will have to check into the polisher you mentioned. I know Griot's isn't the cheapest out there but they sure are good. I've never done any scratch removal before so I'll just have to be extra careful.
There are lots of good detail products on the market today. We use Adam's products on our cars. Met Adam years ago at a car show and he actually helped detail my cars........great way to get a stuborn guy like me to try his products and I have been sold ever since. In fact we supply Adam's to several local detail shops.
I'll have to check them out sometime, Stefano. I need to deplete some of my current supplies first. I saw Adam's sells at Amazon so that makes it easy for me since we do so much shopping there.
Can't wait till we get into the good weather here. And I'm sure you in Chicago are sick of the cold.
I'm starting to go through this car and figure out if it has any issues for warranty. One weird thing that happens is when I really get on the gas, a vibration type sound from those gauges by the shifter occurs. Trans itself is smooth though. I'll have to see what they say about that. Bumper to bumper expires toward end of summer.
That vibration doesn't sound right at all. Our 5th Gen and 6th Gen are smooth as silk.
My Wife's Car is the Blue one built in Lansing, it's a bit quicker than my ZL1.

Yeah, that sound is coming from one of the gauges, I'm almost positive. I need to get a recording of it because when I take it to the dealer I'm almost sure to get the dreaded "can not replicate."

Yes, one thing I've noticed with it being a Camaro is that it doesn't matter if it is a (cough...4 cylinder) 6 cylinder or 8 cylinder. They all pretty much turn heads. Had to drive like a grandpa for a trip down to Florida. Well, not really but stayed within 5 MPH of the limit with the cruise set. You just get this eerie feeling you're being watched in this car. Similar to the feeling of the W-30, but people can't hear me from miles away in this.
