New or refurb carb

Does anyone know of someone, or someplace I could buy either a new or refurb quadrajet for my olds 350? I would like to buy one that is just bolt on and go. I don't know if that is possible, but I thought it was worth a try. If not a q-jet any other recomendations?

Although I've never used either of them, the places "Paratrooper" recommends look pretty good. Sparkys would likely do you right, as will set up jetting for your application. Careful with commercial rebuilds, as sometimes not so good. For more information on this, email Q-Jet guru Lars Grimsrud v8fastcars@msn.com for his papers, as lists the problems he's found.

I talked to Sparky he seems like a great guy and I would like to send my carb to him. Unfortunatly he is swamped and booked for months out right now. I don't mind spending money on another carb so can someone recomend a new one I could buy that would be bolt on and go. My local parts store has an edlebrock #1405 that they say is bolt on and go but it is a performance carb and I am not looking for that. Unless being a performer carb doesn't make that much difference? My car is a cruiser. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Give this guy a call and see what you think. He is rebuilding a q-jet for me for a 68 Olds 98. I haven't seen it yet but he really seems to know his stuff. It was a mess and the throttle shafts had to be re-bushed. Total for everything was like $346 which doesn't seem bad for what he did.

My 350 is running fine on a Holley 80457 right out of the box. Cheap and readily available. That said, I still want to swap for a Q-Jet someday. Good experiences with them in the past and seem more efficient when you stay out of the secondaries. I'll watch this to see what you find.

Another place worth checking into is Cliffs Carburators "cliffshighperformance.com". Quite popular with guys on the Corvette forum, and heard nothing but good things about them. Jet Performance also sells properly rebuilt Q-Jets in different stages, that can be had from places like Summit racing. Still prefer a properly tuned Q-Jet to your set up from one of the custom shops, as can really make a difference.
