New model showroom covers

I have 3 dealer new model covers that were placed over cars in the showroom before there debuts. Does anyone have any information about how to date these covers? They are all red. One has these words on the side, where the doors would be-"Coming soon-The newest Olds of all". The second one has "Wraps come off this all new Olds model Sept. 30". The third cover is just like the others, except it has no words. I know these are old, but do not know how old. I checked for tags, but found none. They are cheaply made, due to there one time use.

They are made of like a felt type material. I'll try to post some pictures later today.

I put the 2 covers with wording on them on my 68 Delta Custom sedan. The one with Sept 30 on it fit real good. Must have been for a large car. The other with coming soon on it, was smaller. Possible for a Cutlass.

Glad you asked! I have one too, and with some detective work have been able to find out what they were used on.
They were used to debut the '66 Toronado, not surprisingly.
In the '60s, GM debuted the new models at the end of September. And it was done on a Thursday. The covers don't have the year, but you'll find that Sept 30th was on a Thursday in 1965.
I've seen a few of these, and the material and construction varied a little, but they served the same purpose.

Thanks wmachine for the info. All the covers are wrinkled and some dirt spots with a few holes, but for what they are, there pretty nice. They were found in an old car that was stored at a local Olds dealer.
