I ran the L69 setup on my first '68 442 for a summer back in the early '80s(I wish I hadn't sold it!!!) I made up an adjustable cable bracket that mounted to both the drivers side rear carb mounting bolts. I used a nut & bolt with a jamb nut for attaching the cable to the center carb. Once the cable was attached to the carb I played around with the cable bracket until I had it in position so the throttle worked correctly. I honestly can't remember if I started with a factory bracket & cut it up, but It seems to me I made the whole thing from scratch, cutting the square hole for the cable from scratch. It was 2 or 3 pieces & once I was happy with the location I marked the parts, drilled holes & bolted everything together. The factory 4bbl cable worked just fine. I attached the return spring to the hole in the engine lift strap. I did find a pic of the setup but it's not that clear. I was running a "W45" spec 455(308 cam/headers,etc. it was a beast!!
thank u for the info! i read an old thread on here a guy used a 2bbl bracket/cable, bending it to work. im sure it wont be hard to figure out, and yes pic is alittle hard to see
I can't believe I still had a pic of the setup. The date on the pic is June '82! It was a grainy pic taken with a cheapy camera, so it definitely didn't scan too well! Good luck with your L69 setup!. You'll be stopping at many more gas stations!!! I couldn't keep my foot out of mine, The 900 cfm it delivered worked great with the 308 cam & the sound was Awesome!!! The car pic was taken by my buddies dad in '80 just after I finished it! He had an excellent camera. Oh to be 20 again!!!
Mine was too. It was originally an auto on the column with buckets!. It was a factory a/c car & I added lots of options when I restored it(that was the thing to do back then) I put in pwr windows, pwr antenna, tilt wheel rear defroster ,rally-pac, etc. I also had the later 4 spoke sport wheel like I see you have in yours(nicest looking factory steering wheel ever made!!). I loved that car!! It was "the one that got away"! I'm very happy with the '68 I have now it's a #s matching 400(350 hp) with a 4 spd & factory a/c. It runs great, but it's no match for my old 455!! Your cars looks great!!!!
When I started driving the salvage yards still had plenty of old iron, but the desirable stuff had long before been picked over. Would have ben nice to walk into a salvage yard and find 442, GTO, etc
