Off idle is where dropping the main jet size helped. When I first got the carb I didn't know about idle jets and air bleeds so I just increased the main jets until it drove without stumbling or surging. From the research I've done the idle jets influence more than just at idle, I read up to 80% throttle range, so when I increased my idle jet for the correct air/fuel at idle it made it to rich off idle. Going back down on the main jets leaned it out off idle so it wasn't overly rich.

 

Clearly, you need more information than we can give you here, so I took a look around for you.

The 32/36 carb has a unique design, and our advice based on more conventional carbs has only limited utility for you. For one thing, the idle jets DO control up to 80% of throttle.
