Need Car Transport Help

I am moving from Chicago to Texas and need to find a car transport company that can haul a 442 that is not able to move on its own power yet. Any suggestions of reliable companies would be appreciated. It looks like I close on the house Jan 20th but don't have to move out of my house for a couple of months til we sell it so I have some time to decide.

I used Reliable Carriers from MN to TX, who did a great job.

I paid the extra charge for cars that are not operable.

They give only a time range for pickup (unless you pay extra).

The problem I've had with Reliable is that they give you a 4-6 week span of when they can get the car. This may be common practice, but I find it frustrating. I've had better luck with independents.

uShip are basically independent carriers who seek carrier transport contracts via uShip. Some of their reviews here >>> uShip Reviews

I used these guys when I had my '78 Toronado transported from Georgia to New Mexico back in February 2017. It was a similar situation to yours in that the car was non-operable. That added about $100 to the cost, and the total cost at the time was $950.

This company advertised in Old Cars Weekly, so I was somewhat comfortable in using them. The experience could not have been better. I signed the contract on a Friday, they picked the car up the following Sunday, and it was in my garage by the next Thursday. Less than a week from start to finish, and the truck driver was great. It was an open carrier, and he put my car in the spot where it would get the least exposure to road debris or whatever.

Yes, they're in Western New York, and the website emphasizes that, but they do operate nationwide.

I towed mine from Ohio to Florida last month via uHaul. You didn't mention how you're moving, but something to consider if you're driving.

I live just east of O'Hare I used Montway also. They are a broker but was pleased with the price and the transporter himself.

I used UShip it to move a 442 from North Carolina to Austin Texas. As it’s true they have independent contractors, just use your brain and interview the shipper as I did. It was perfect as it showed up within the hour promised and set by me in an inclosed trailer. You can’t ask for better service as it was the second time I used them! A+!
