name this relay

can someone please view the attached photo and note the 2 prong relay mounted on the firewall behind the vacuum booster (removed). The red wire on the left prong goes to the horn relay on the fender. Please confirm if this is a viable source for 12 volts to get power to the HEI distributor. Thank You.

i will name that relay Charlie. i am not sure if this is a "switched" 12v source. that relay on my 70 442 is for the convertible top switch and mine is a breaker if i remember correctly? i think its constant hot.

you can check it easy enough with a meter. check it with key in run position and off position. if its constant hot you wont be able to shut car off.

true dat on the meter but with the engine out & loose wires around I'd prefer to identify it before I put the power source back in.

circuit breaker for windows, power top, believe 35 amp rating. Not a relay.
Not switched, constant hot 12 v. If you wire your HEI to it, your car will not shut off.

A more suitable tap for a 12v source is from the
the fuse panel, I would use the BAT location
for your distributor.

There should be an ign spade terminal on your fuse box that you can run a keyed source to your HEI.
