Found this the other day in the Barn and i really don't think it fits my 72 Cutlass 350.I have the original exhaust manifolds and i can't get this to line up with any of the bolt patterns.So my only other car i would of had some parts from would be a 71 302 Ford Motor out of Mustang.I wanna sell it, but was wondering if anybody could help identify it.

Well, it sure looks like the shroud for a 72 350 to me. I just went and looked at mine and it's identical, right down to the small cotter pin holes that hold the curved heat pipe. The only holes that get used are the 2 veritical flanged ones that bolt to the ex manifold. The round holes on the ends don't attach to anything.

 

I guess that wasn't that big of a mystery.
So this is passenger side correct??

You're welcome. And you're correct, that goes on the passenger side. Nice job on the bead blasting, that will save someone a lot of work and also might help with the sale price. Most parts that need work usually go for lower $. Might be worth selling this and the (elongated s shape) stove pipe together if you have it too.

Nope. It was there as a base for the heat pipe to the air cleaner. Theory is that on a cold (like really cold) start the heat from the e manifold would go to the carb instead of icy cold outside air. Everything was controlled by the temp sensor in the air cleaner. On those cold starts, it would allow high vacuum to close the spring control flap on the intake so only warm air from the stove would enter the carb. As the engine warmed up and underhood temps increased, the sensor would reduce/eliminate need for stove pipe air and let the vacuum draw to that spring flap to go to zero.
