My New Gauges
My New Gauges
What do you think of my new Gauges?
This was my preliminary fitting. Still have to figure out what to do with the fuel gauge window up top.
I figured it was time to step up into the modern ages and these gauges I thought looked great and retro at the same time. 1968 Series from New Vintage. 140 mph speedometer, 8k tachometer, fuel, water temp., oil pressure and volts. Integral turn signals, high beam and warning lights. Speedometer uses a hall effect sensor so there is no cable to deal with.

They look very NICE. They still have the vintage look and the chrome sets them off. Be very proud of them. On the little fuel gauge window, to bad you can't block it off and put something that says OLDSMOBILE there, or something like that. JMO

Love the gages!
Wait a second! I don't see the left/right signal indicator or the high beam indicator on the new gages. How about that for the old Fuel gage location?

They are there Allan, but the same style as current cars, where they blend in with the gauge face until they light up.
TripDeuces that looks like a nice setup.
They look KICKA** of course.
I also got the New Vintage 1969 Series for my 1970 442 clone.
I love the LED illumination in the newer gauge styles.
I'll never use an incandescent gauge again.
I need to finish my gauge panel still.....blew $250 on a drill press just to make it. LOL

What did you have to do to get them to fit in the factory gauge housing?
What kind of cost is involved in the pair of those & the speedometer sensor?
Thanks for the input all.
The gauges as a set go for $599 and another $45 for the speedo sensor.
Fitting them wasn't that hard. Originally I was going to put them behind but it didn't look right to me. I also couldn't figure out a viable way to make it work.
What I ended up doing was removing the 1/8 inch ring of plastic that sits at the bottom of the bezel. With that removed the gauge slide right in and the attachment in the rear just needed a slight modification to hold it securely.
Since I still think it sits a little high (out board) I may trim more off the top and sink the chrome bezel under the angled over hang. Like an eyebrow type arrangement. I think that will look sharper. Another 3/4 to an inch more set back and it will be better in my opinion. With that eye brow it will have a more stock appearance. Of course the circuit board in the back and bridging to hold it up will have to be removed form the dash.

The turn signals and high beam are in there but you just can see them.
"they look great what size are they. diameter wise"
They are listed as 4 3/8 but are actually 4 1/4 behind the bezel. They give you some wiggle room.

Thanks. Now I wont be able to sleep..I see a Resto Mod Restoration ..A Graphite Chrome just a little darker ..and a Standard Argent Silver/Black paint Scheme.I like things Original. But this is something else to add to the pallette.
Finished one side of the gauge set back. It will be back filled so you can't see through the bezel. Other pick shows how far back it was set compared to the original. I think it looks a lot better back. Pictures don't do it justice.
